What's Up Wednesday-6.30.21

I'm linking up today with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday.

What We're Eating This Week...
I realize it's only Wednesday so technically this has only happened twice this week BUT my kids have been really into helping in the kitchen.  They've helped with dinner and have made dessert twice.  Granted we're batting five hundred on the dessert.  One night the brownies were delish and the second night the cupcakes were, "weird and disgusting", according to Britt.

Monday:  Spaghetti

Tuesday:  Salmon

Wednesday:  Cheesy Ranch Tacos

Thursday:  Homemade Pizzas

We kept things simple in the kitchen this week.  :)

What I'm Reminiscing About...
AWWWWW...sweet baby Bowen.  And check out my photography skills.  My ability to snap that picture right as the flag was waving in front of Tab's face is a bit impressive.  ha!

What I'm Loving...
All things SUMMER!  On sunny days we've been taking full advantage of time spent poolside with friends.

What We've Been Up To...
ALL THE CAMPS, pool time, lots of College World Series baseball watching, playing outside, and working as much as I possibly can in the early mornings and late nights.

What I'm Dreading...
More rainy days.  This was my answer in May and I'm still feeling that way.  This week the weather has been yucky...ugh!

What I'm Working On...
PACKING!  We're going out of town this weekend and I'm already starting to gather up what we're taking.

What I'm Excited About...
I mean...is anyone else excited??!!  Big Brother is BACK on July 7th!  Who's gonna be watching with me?!

Yellowstone is keeping us guessing on when Season 4 will be back!  But I'm here for it...whenever the date happens to be.

AND THE SUMMER OLYMPICS!!

I'm clearly way too excited about my upcoming tv watching.  ;)

What I'm Watching/Reading...
COLLEGE WORLD SERIES!

This was the first World Series tournament our family has really gotten into...like even Ebby Lee was watching every night.  Some evenings we were all cheering for the same team and other nights we were a house divided.

I'm almost finished with The Road Back to You.

What I'm Listening To...
KIDS-it's SUMMER!!
Same answer as last month.  :)

What I'm Wearing...
I searched and searched for an outfit pic to share but lots of swimsuits, coverups and lounge clothes are all that's been happening here.

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
Celebrating the 4th of July!  This year we've got some new plans scheduled and are all looking forward to changing it up in 2021!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...
Slaughter Family Vacation!

Thanks for reading today!  See you tomorrow!

The Bestie Breakdown, Episode FIVE-Breaking Down Botox

In Episode Five, Shay and I are Breaking Down Botox.

Yes, BOTOX.
Something I NEVER thought I'd be discussing on this blog or a podcast but what I've learned over time is Botox is something many, many people do {but many just don't talk about it}.  Don't worry though-if Botox isn't for you, we cover dermatologist visits, skincare, and much much more.  Imagine this episode as a little girl-chat where we're sitting down to discuss any and all things skincare.  I hope you like it!

If you've missed any other episodes this season, you can find them all on this link.  Or you can always follow us on your favorite podcast platform to get them delivered to you each week.

Thanks for listening!

Friday Favorites-6.25.21

Hey There, Friends!

We've had a busy, busy week.  My parents have been in town all week, Nixon played in a baseball tournament that lasted five days, and sprinkle in a birthday party and three speech appointments and you have a mom who is happy to see the weekend.

Every Friday Andrea and I join forces to share FRIDAY FAVORITES from the week.  I have a little bit of everything for you today...a big round-up of FAVORITE food from Amazon, a few FAVORITES from the week, and a new FAVORITE gadget...

Yellowbird Serrano Hot Sauce-I've shared this hot sauce several times before but it's worth another share.  My FAVORITE way to eat eggs involves this hot sauce.  SO SO GOOD paired with a scrambled egg, Trader Joe's Egg Fritatas, or a hard boiled egg.

Atkins Fudge Brownies-My girlfriend, Amanda, recommended these a while back and they're the adult version of the Little Debbie Brownie.  They're definitely not as sweet-only one gram of sugar BUT they satisfy a sweet tooth.

Rendezvous Dry Rub-a famous Memphis restaurant, Rendezvous, sells their dry rub on Amazon and our FAVORITE way to eat this is with sausage, cheese, pickles, and crackers.

Quest Chips-We always have these Quest Chips on hand...for our gluten free friends {I'm looking at you, Kensington}, for a healthier snack, and if I purchase in the variety pack it saves a little money.

Captain Rodney's Glaze-Andrea shared the recipe years ago on her blog, but this glaze makes the most delicious dip.  In my opinion it's best served over the holidays.  It's made a great hostess gift with the recipe tied on, but keep in mind the cost for this really fluctuates based on supply.

Premier Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Shakes-Our ALL TIME FAVORITE protein shakes!  This flavor is the best!

Southern Pecan Coffee-And our FAVORITE coffee deserves a share.  ;)

*************************

Ended the week with a second place ring.

It was a hot few days of watching my FAVORITE #34.

*************************

Okay, this last FAVORITE has me speaking only to those of you who get headaches.  I'm a girl who if I start to feel yucky my head is going to be the first to hurt.  If I get really rundown and am exhausted, my head will hurt.  If I'm crazy stressed, have a cold, etc...you get the idea, I'm gonna get a headache.  On a whim, I ordered this eye massager in hopes it would help my next headache.  And YOU GUYS!  It's AMAZING!  This eye massager uses heat and pressure while massaging your eyes and temple and it's my FAVORITE purchase over the last month.  It's kind of pricey but if you're a "headache" girl too, it might be worth a look.

Hope you have a GREAT WEEKEND!  See you Tuesday!

Small Business Month

Did you guys know it's Small Business Month?  While I'm a big fan of many large businesses, small businesses will always have a piece of my heart.  Knowing my purchase helps support a family always makes shopping small more special.

In honor of Small Business Month, I'm sharing one of my favorite small businesses...

I've shared our favorite bow company time and time again because it's our absolute FAVORITE!

If you're in the market for some new bows, need a cute party favor, or need a great girly gift idea, please check out One Stop Bow Shop!

Guess who was the Bowhead this month?

{Hint, hint...you've seen her cute face a time or two but click right here to see for yourself.}

Happy Thursday, Friends!

Hawaiian Cruise: Hilo and Kona

Hey There, Friends!

Thanks so much for all the great feedback from the podcast yesterday.  We really appreciate the feedback and are so thankful you're spending time to listen.

Today, Shay and I are sharing Part 3 of our Hawaii Spring Break 2020 trip!

So far we've covered...

We're gonna pick up right where we left off.  We went to bed in Maui and woke up in Hilo!
Thanks to that concierge stateroom I've mentioned before we had access to this dining room where there were always plenty of tables for our big party of 12.  We ordered our breakfast every morning right here.

These three girls were ready for a FUN day!

For our Hilo day, we booked a private tour with a big shuttle van that seated all twelve of us.  Once we met up, our guide helped us customize the day just for our ages.

Shay and I noticed over and over again how on this trip the kiddos often paired up differently.  Britt would let Kensington "baby" her but if Ebby Lee tried she wasn't having it.

This was such a cool way to get to see a variety of things on the island.

Our first stop was to see an area of the island where an earthquake had erupted leaving behind lots of lava.

These Texas kids couldn't believe it.

Don't even ask me what I was doing in this picture.  I mean...WHAT am I doing?  We laughed and laughed after our guide took this.  One of the best reasons to hire a private guide when checking out a new town is this right here....no other tourists were in this location.

In certain spots, you could still see the steam.

Our guide pulled over to the side of the road so we could feel the warm steam rising up from the ground.

Next stop was the Mauna Loa Factory.

This factory produces a wide variety of macadamian nuts.  Our crew of twelve came in a bit hungry and we'd never tasted anything so delicious.  We bought bags and bags of nuts for us to take back to Texas.

Can you tell these two were fans?

Stop #3...lunch at a local hang out.

Right before this picture Bowen pulled his tooth.  How many kids can say the tooth fairy visited in Hawaii?

We ordered a couple fun drinks and let the kiddos share.

These amazing waterfalls were stop #4.

The whole crew!

Who taught Britt to do this?

Then we saw the Kaumana Caves, a super long lava tube created by a flow many years ago.  Can you spot Britt and Tab walking down there?

The stairs were really slippery and pretty steep.

But it was super cool to see.

How cool is that, right?

The view from the inside out.

And our last stop of the day was this cool spot where lots of locals camped and enjoyed the beach.  We just took a little stroll near the water before heading back to the ship.

Awesome views so we took it all in for a bit.

Sorry, for all the pics in the same spot.  :)

After a fun-filled day, our guide dropped us off at the ship and we were having a snack before dinner.

It appears like I didn't take a single picture that night.  :(

The next morning we woke up in Kona!
And we tendered over to the island.

I'm pretty sure Tab, Andrea, and I thought Shay might get sick so we put the kids beside her. Ha!

After a non-stop day in Hilo, we made our Kona day super chill.

We got off the ship for the day and spent our day at the Waikoloa Beach Resort.

This resort was stunning...there was a beach entrance where these girls spent most of their day.

The ocean views from the resort.

The pool was amazing!

Don't mind my finger-but wanted to show you what was in the cave.

And a water slide or two was built right into the landscaping.

We had the BEST day!

When we got back on the ship, this was the view from our balcony.

Dinner was extra sweet with these girls.

And these three as well.

And on our walk back to our stateroom, we caught this view.

It really felt like each and every day were so special.  Lots of amazing memories were made!
