Friday Favorites-2.26.21

What a WEEK!!!  I've had such an amazing week at Walt Disney World while my sweet, sweet husband held down the fort at home.  Super thankful for him and how he was Mr. Mom this week.

In Friday fashion, Andrea and I are here with some FAVORITES!

First up, I will remember this date for the rest of my life-February 26th-the day my sweet friend, Manda, went to be with Jesus.  Manda was and will always be a FAVORITE friend of mine.  She was such a testament to what truly living out your faith looked like even in dark and scary times.  She was an amazing mother who always thought of her kids first and she gave me a real life example of 2 Timothy 4:7.  "I have fought the good fight.  I have finished the race.  I have kept the faith".

This St. Patrick's Day Box from Big Memories Little Details is THE cutest idea!  This box comes with everything you need to make St. Patrick's Day a little more fun from decor to a games to crafts and everything in between.  If you're looking for a way to make your holiday a little "extra", then order this STAT!  It'd also be a great idea for grandparents to have sent to their grandchildren.  It's full of fun...

Check out everything inside...

It comes with all the supplies to make your breakfast set up or dinner set up super special from a gold tablecloth {it's in the bottom of the box} to plates and napkins to sparkly silverware.

A craft with everything you need!

A game, once again, with all the supplies you need.

Supplies for building a leprechaun trap.

Abby even includes suggestions for making it a little more fun.  Bonus for moms like me who are not super crafty-THEY'RE SUPER EASY SUGGESTIONS!

You can follow Big Memories Little Details on Instagram and order your box here. This is a new FAVORITE and I hope she keeps the boxes going all year long!  Hint hint, Abby!  We LOVED our Valentine's Day box!

Bowen went to watch one of his friends play hockey over the weekend and his big smile after cheering on a friend is my FAVORITE!

One of my FAVORITE people sent me a sweet little care package full of goodies.  This Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Bar was new to me but it's a new FAVORITE-SO SO GOOD!!  If you have a Whole Foods near you, check this out!

Check out my new FAVORITE sneakers!!  A super weird fact about me-when I walk my toes all go up, which maybe is normal?  But mine go intensely up which causes me to get holes in the tops of my shoes where my toes hit...especially in my workout shoes because I usually don't rotate those.  Needless to say, I've been needing a pair because I have holes in my current shoes.  I got this pair and absolutely LOVE them!  I ordered my normal size and am loving the fit.

Do you have a FAVORITE thriller book recommendation?  Those types of books are my FAVORITE so I'd love to add a few new ones to my kindle.  Please send some recs my way!

That's all from my list of FAVORITES for today!  Hope you guys have a great weekend!  Xee you back here on Monday!

Life Lately

A little look at life lately from our house...
We woke up last Sunday morning to this view out the front windows.  We periodically can get light dustings of snow that leave the grass sprinkled with white but VERY RARELY does the road ever get white!

It was a Valentine's Day to remember!  I'd gotten a few goodies for the kids the week before and thanks to Big Memories Little Details we had some extra fun ways to celebrate.

Started the day like I did every other day-with my bible and The Bible Recap.

When Tab got up we were both laughing about other wives waking up with flowers and chocolate on their mind for Valentine's Day, I woke up wanting bacon with my breakfast.  hahaha!  My valentine delivered!

When the girls woke up, they immediately went outside to check it all out!

It was SO COLD outside-they needed to sit real close to warm up.

We met our neighbors outside to enjoy as much sledding as was possible-at the time.

Knowing there was more in the forecast, my valentine and I ventured out on a little "date trip" to the grocery store to stock up on more food.

Right before winter storm #2 rolled in this was a view of our house.

We all pitched in and had the yummiest Valentine's Day dinner here at home...steaks with baked potatoes, sauteed mushrooms {all of my kids love this-who knew?!}, and salad.

On Monday morning we woke up to LOTS more snow so we did lots of sledding runs.

Made countless snow angels.

And had way too many snowball fights to count.

I can't believe we missed out on a family pic in the snow!  On this day, we were waiting for Tab to finish up a work call and Nixon had already made his way over to the hill to sled.

We spent lots of time snuggled up on the couch.

Can you spy Bowen Slaughter in the back of the sled?

Britty wasn't getting cold.  :)  I bought that snow suit in 2017 and it was a tad too big for Britt but that snowsuit STILL fits!

Many, many trips were had up and down this hill.

And we created some amazing lifelong memories.

That's a look at our life lately, friends!

What's Up Wednesday-2.24.21

I'm linking up today with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday.

What We're Eating This Week...
Monday-We had chicken lettuce wraps with Trader Joe's cauliflower fried rice for us and the real delicious fried rice for the kids.

The Rest of the Week-If you saw my post yesterday, I left for Walt Disney World so Shay and I will be dining on Disney World fare, but I left my people well taken care of with meatballs, salmon, and frozen pizzas.

What I'm Reminiscing About...
I've been thinking about our last trip to Walt Disney World when we took Bowen and Ashby

What I'm Loving...
Super random thing to be loving but if you're a broccoli fan and looking for a tasty breakfast, you should check these out.  They're little broccoli cheese egg bites I found at my local grocery store.  Their house brand, Signature Select, makes them.  I tried them on a whim and found myself wishing I'd grab more boxes while were snowed in.  I added Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel Seasoning and delish!

What We've Been Up To...
This week is looking a whole lot like this...

This...except minus the two kids.  ;)

And probably some of this.  :)

What I'm Dreading...
Nothing at the moment.

What I'm Working On...
Who says work shouldn't be fun?  NOT ME!   Shay and I are traveling with a list of things we're checking out specifically for clients.  You better believe we'll be experiencing the Disney magic as well, but some work is happening too!  I promise!  Again if you'd like help planning your Walt Disney World vacation, please check out our website and e-mail us directly from our site to learn more!

What I'm Excited About...
Britt and I have been working through some new activities by recommendations from her speech therapist and after a few weeks I'm gonna share them all with you!  So far something SUPER simple has produced the biggest changes-looking forward to sharing all my thoughts!

What I'm Watching/Reading...
Many have suggested this show, Outlander, for Tab and I to watch.  We started last week during the snow and judging by your comments we should keep it up.  Definitely rated R!

I hadn't read a fiction book in forever but before we left for WDW I charged up my Kindle for the flight and downloaded The Wife Upstairs.  Sounds thrilling-just like I like them!

What I'm Listening To...
This morning as everyone was coming downstairs, eating breakfast, getting ready I had Prince playing on the Alexa.  Some came down the stairs loving it and others were rolling their eyes.

What I'm Wearing...
After over a week of leggings and pajamas all day, I'm having to go back to pre-snow to find some pictures for you.  I'd been seeing buttoned-up cardigans worn as sweaters all over the place and decided to try for myself.  Love the way it turned out! My sweater is sold out but this is similar.  Bracelets are still in stock.  Everything else is old and sold out.

I'm a fan of the puffy sleeve trend that's sweeping the nation right now.  Can I say sweeping the nation when referencing a puffy sleeve?  I'm not really sure, but I'm doing it. I'm a fan and can't get enough-this top is Target {can't find my exact top but Target has lots of options}-I really like how the bottom of the sleeve is super fitted to combat the big sleeve.  Once again-jeans and booties are old and sold out.

I thought this was a fun top that happens to be perfect for winter weather-or a Spring Break Ski Trip!

You can purchase a matching pair of joggers but I opted to wear it with jeans and my boots.

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
This kid has his first ever select baseball tournament.  He's been talking about it for months and of course the one last weekend was cancelled due to the weather.  I have my fingers crossed the rain in the forecast goes away before Saturday arrives.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...
The Slaughters are headed out of town and back to the slopes.  This time we're all getting to ski-look out Ski School-here come the Slaughters!  While skiing is not something I'm great at, I'm very much looking forward to getting away with my people for the week.

Thanks for reading today!  See you tomorrow!

Off to The Most Magical Place on Earth

I have THE BEST NEWS!  Shay and I are off today to head to...

This time we're heading there sans kids just so we have more time to check it all out for our Mix and Match Travel Agency clients.  I'm not sure if I'll be doing a full recap of the trip here on my blog, but I will be sharing some highlights via Instagram.  Be sure to follow along if you'd like to see our magical getaway right here.

Super thankful for husbands holding down the forts at home so we can sneak off to check it out.  We'll be working some as well when we're out of town so please feel free to reach out to us with help on your next Walt Disney World vacation.  You can e-mail us at

Hope to see you on the 'Gram!

5 Things-2.22.21

Hey There, Friends!

The snow is mostly all melted by today and things are getting back to somewhat normal here in North Texas.  I know so many people who had water damage and busted pipes from the storm last week and will be dealing with the effects for weeks to come.  My heart goes out to all of them.  Again, if you're looking for a place to help, I suggest Sheaffer's post full of ideas.  And the McKinney Little Free Pantry is another organization offering food to those in need here in our town.

#1 Come Together
First thing I want to share is this quote.  Our country has felt so divided over the past year and yet I've never felt such community like I did the past week.  Via text messages many groups were checking in with each other to make sure every family had what they needed.  On social media, I saw so many people offering their own homes to families without power.  I got many calls and texts from family and friends states away offering us to drive their way or ship items to us. Many of you reached out to check on our family.  I looked for the helpers and there were so many.  In the midst of such chaos and devastation, all the unity was such a sight to see.

#2 Cupcake Delivery
My mom saw the company, Wicked Good Cupcakes, on Shark Tank a while back and decided to order us some for Valentine's Day.  Such an unexpected treat!  If you're looking for a delicious goodie to send to family or friends, check out Wicked Good Cupcakes.  My favorite was cookie butter-definitely!  It was the highlight of our valentine's weekend.

#3 School Valentine Parties
Britty came home from school on Friday living her best life!  She had a bag full of valentine treats from friends and she knew there was a three day weekend in her future.

Nixon asked M for valentine box help and I don't think there's ever been a better valentine box for a fifth grade boy.  M is so creative.  She took a Pinterest idea and ran with it!  If you have an older boy who's pretty much over the whole valentine thing but still trying to embrace the it's-the-last-time-I'll-ever-do-this, then maybe you need a toilet box next time too.

Bowen was super responsible and saved his Patrick Mahomes' box from 2020 so he just pulled it out of his closet.

#4 Watching and Reading-Outlander
Tab and I started watching Outlander over the past week-DEFINITELY rated R.  Many friends recommended this one and with many nights at home we finally gave it a shot.  You can find it on Netflix.  We're only three episodes in-have you watched?  Did you like it?
For some weird reason I took a big long book break but over the last week I got myself out of the funk.  I started reading Grace Not Perfection again.  It's the kind of book my heart needs to go through more than once.  I charged up my Kindle and am excited to get this habit going again.  But if you also try to do all the things, then I'd recommend Emily's book for you too.  Do you have any recs similar to this one?  Same genre?

#5  Biggest Fans
Here in Texas most youth sports are happening but they look a little different.  For Ebby Lee's volleyball tournaments, most are allowing two spectators per player.  Which means we leave the kids at home with a sitter or they hang with the grandparents while Tab and I go watch.  I know sports still aren't happening in many other states so I'm not taking this a bit for granted. Ebby Lee had a tournament this past weekend and we got to be just that, her biggest fans.  We have to soak those moments in because starting next weekend we'll have more than one kid in places at the same time.

Those are the five things on the forefront of my mind this Monday!  Tomorrow I have a fun little post.  And then sharing What's Up on Wednesday.  Hope your week is off to a great start!
