Thursday Thoughts

Periodically, I tend to share a brain dump of what's floating around in this head of mine and apparently, today is the day.  I like to get way ahead for the week on the weekend when it comes to this blog space.  If I work just a bit then my week goes so much smoother BUT...I'm looking at you, ATT U-Verse, my internet was OUT all weekend so I'm writing this on Wednesday afternoon.

*Tab and I are in the middle of season two of Yellowstone and we can't get enough!  We've never been the type of couple who binge watch shows past our bedtimes because we get SLEEPY!  No matter what we're watching, BUT with Yellowstone we get tempted.  #westillgetsleepytho   I realize we're about two years late on the Yellowstone trend, but we're officially in the obsessed phase.  I've already decided Tab is getting nothing but Carhardt for Christmas, have contemplated dying my hair red like Beth Dutton, and cannot wait to book us a trip to Yellowstone.  Sign us up!  Have you watched?  A few things...1. It's definitely rated R!  2. There might be a better place to watch, but we couldn't find it.  We had to buy the seasons on Amazon Prime.  3. It somewhat reminds me of that mini series, Hatfields and McCoys, that was on years ago.  We loved that one too and Yellowstone is no different.

*On the subject of shows, I'm watching Homeland on my own as I work, clean, do laundry, etc. and I just finished season one.  I.  Am.  Shook.   It's also rated, "R", just like to put that out there.  Typically, I prefer light and fluffy but these intense dramas are changing my mind.  On to season two!

*One more show we must discuss...BIG BROTHER!  Where are my BB fans?  I'm watching this season and so far it's a little meh.  I get it.  As an All-Star, they all want to leave the house and feel good about their game play so there's more real-life happening in front of us versus "game play" actions which just isn't as entertaining when you're watching.  What do you think?  Who are you cheering for?  I keep waiting for someone to make a big move!  Who's gonna do it first?  Right now, I'm a Cody fan and am hoping he goes all the way this time!  But there's still lots of time for that to change.

*I've shared before I have bad meat issues.  I'm very self-aware.  My new go-to super quick dinner meal involves Trader Joe's Argentinian Shrimp.  It comes frozen, defrosts quickly, and can be used so many ways!  Our favorite way is to bacon wrap them and bake them or air fry them.  Super easy and super quick!  Just yesterday {Wednesday}, I grocery pick up'd with plans of making chicken tacos for dinner and the chicken was no where to be found in my order.  Out of stock!  My back up meal involved that TJ shrimp!  And Britt Slaughter asked for THIRDS on her shrimp!  THIRDS!

*Yesterday my blog post was all about tween girl clothes...where to shop, what we've found, and I asked for your recommendations.  You should check out the comments!  I was gonna Insta Story to  share some of those items we've found but I still get stage fright on IG stories and I talked myself out of it.  #hahahaha  So, let's try again today, shall we?

*I should add-that IS if my face looks better.  I got a little laser treatment that targets large pores done yesterday and forgot how red and blotchy and swollen I look afterwards.  It'll look so much better in a few days but for now, I'm kind of a mess.

*Have you tried my favorite coffee?  The Green Mountain Southern Pecan coffee pods!!  I have only found it at Wal-Mart and Amazon, but maybe you can find them at Target too?  I just took a pause from this brain dump and made myself an afternoon cup.

*Speaking of coffee, I'm using my "It's an 'Add to Cart' Kind of Day" mug and that reminds me lots of you asked about where Marla got it.  If you have no clue what mug I'm talking about, you can read that post here.  And if you're interested in the mug, I can't find the exact one but this one is very similar.

*Taking a hard right turn {just go with it}, let me tell you about one of the nastiest, grossest things I've experienced during my mom life.  We have a closet under our stairs and for years it's been known as "the shoe closet".  The kids all had bins in there with their shoes but periodically we'd have to clean it out because they always end up tossing their shoes and it gets really messy.  Please know we just tweaked it and now they're keeping their shoes in their closets.  ANYWAY, the other day I opened the closet to put something in there and got a whiff of the NASTIEST smell.  Like, I was certain a small mammal had died inside this closet-kind of bad smell.  I started moving things to find the culprit and discovered Nixon's fishing backpack.  It wreaked of something and when I opened the bag there were leftover bacon and hot dogs from his last fishing trip inside just rotting at room temperature in our house.  HOW DISGUSTING!!  It was so bad we chucked the entire backpack in the garbage.

*Please tell me you have a gross Mom story like that in your house to make me feel better!

*I have one more nasty smell story for you.  A couple weeks ago we had a crazy, busy evening so I made Ebby Lee dinner to-go to eat in the car as we drove over to Bowen's baseball game.  Her dinner included meatballs and broccoli.  And it happened to be crazy hot.  Remember that-that part of the story is important.  She didn't eat much and left her plate sitting in the car while we got out to watch Bowen's game.  I didn't notice a thing that evening and she tossed the plate when we got home.  Well, the next morning it was like the hot broccoli had decided to curl up and get cozy in the very depths of the carpet of my Suburban.  It was SO BAD I thought a pack of raw chicken had accidentally slipped under the seats of my car.  UGH!  The aroma of old, hot broccoli took DAYS to air out.  DAYS!

*Have you decorated your house for fall?  I'm thinking I'm going to haul all my stuff out in the next day or so to decorate.  Because it's fall, y'all!

*FYI, I don't think I've ever said, "Y'all", in real life.  Missouri falls somewhere in between the north and south when it comes to phrases, "you guys", is way more popular.  Do you say y'all or you guys where you live?

Thanks for reading my Thursday Thoughts!  Have the BEST day!
XO

What are your meat issues? Are you hesitant to touch raw meat (like me) or are you are worried about whether it's cooked? Do you not like the taste? I've heard you mention this before but I don't know the backstory.

We definitely don't say "y'all" here in Toronto, but I often say "you guys" but I think it's from you!

Coming from Michigan it’s definitely “you guys”! Also-I feel the same about Big Brother. Hoping it gets more interesting in the coming weeks! I’d like to see Cody get far as well. I was sad to see Janelle go!

I freaking LOVE this post. I laughed out loud.

We are watcing AWAY on Netflix. SO SO SO GOOD. Obsessed. We love to sit down each night and watch a few episodes. Now we are done- and I HATE THAT SO MUCH. Now we have to wait for Season 2. Ugh.

I agree with you on Big Brother! This season has been so boring with majority of the house in the same alliance. I miss Janelle and Kaysar. I’m ready for the big alliance to implode and create some excitement!

Look into bamboo charcoal bags as odor absorbers. They can be recharged in the sunlight and I think they help for sure without giving my house a manufactured scent like Febreeze.

I'm from Missouri but live in Kentucky (the land of y'all)...I say it occasionally now after living here for 15 years, but when people ask what we say in Missouri, I say, "You guys," so that's funny you said that!

Hi Erika! Can you share what type of laser you did? I’ve been wanting to try one and I have large pores, too. Thanks!

I have heard other moms talking about charcoal bags that you can put out to absorb nasty smells. I think you can get them on Amazon.

OK, have to share gross discovery stories because frankly I need to go to therapy about them! Most involve our houses and the moves all over country. San Diego moved into home ant and owl invasion. Pest controlled spray exterior house and all the interior ants in walls went nuts, crawled down walls, up toilet screws floor, filled dishwasher black with ants, etc. Took 6 weeks to kill and daily shop vac to remove 6+ in. dead ants baseboards. At same time owl nested with eggs over front door, couldn't remove nest(protected law CA) for 8 weeks the owl trashed the front steps/courtyard/koi pond with owl pellets and rat carcasses from nightly feedings before I could get rid of them for good. Same house found dead baby mice carcasses in my son's toy basket(no mice house ? where from/maybe moving storage). It was a nightmare! Texas(Southlake)bought spec home and 8 weeks in we had an odor from master bath, had plumbing & entire house checked found nothing. Then fly invasion followed by my ankles breaking out in bites so bad the dermatologist said I needed a skin biopsy. Discovered builder buried a live skunk in my marble tub deck and died. Had to move out house, fumigated whole house followed by selling the house, couldn't live there. Many, many more horrible smell stories but those 2 worst!. I'll take the old hotdog, broccoli instead!

OK I am DYING BC the first 3 or 4 topics had me laughing out loud!!! We are also watching Yellowstone Season 2.. just started it.. bought on Amazon Prime.. we are late on the train too. haha last thing. .it is definitely rated R which means watching after the kids are in bed but then it's like I want to watch 3 or 4 episodes and it's 11pm on a week night.. HA Homeland.. I watched season 1 & 2 when it first came out abut found myself so worked up after each episode so I finally gave it up :) Big Brother has always been my favorite but this season I don't think I have watched a full episode :( just not into it!
BAHAHA eeeeekkkksss on the backpack incident and broccoli... I would DIE like DIE.. I have a terrible gag reflex with smells.. bahahaha and Y'all is a daily word in my vocabulary! :P

I'm from South Louisiana and it's definitely y'all. Or all y'all if its a group of people :)

Wow, we're watching all the same shows! Yellowstone - LOVE it! Recently started as I'm still on season 1. I totally missed the memo when it first came out. Super rated R though, I even feel a little uncomfy watching with other adults in the room lol. HOMELAND - omg so, so good! Just started after Shay mentioned the final season ending a few weeks ago. That was another series I "missed the memo" on. I'm already on Season 3 and every episode is heart-pounding. And finally, BIG BROTHER! Honestly, for an "All Star" season, it's been a bit of a let down. Kaysar and Janelle went home way too early, David and Bayleigh should have never been cast (sorry) and nobody is making real game moves! Agreed though, I am a Cody fan right now! And Enzo, too! He's funny!

Have you heard about the BB live feeds though?!? I'm so interested in CBS not addressing the group of 4 who are making fun of Ian for his autism. I'm shocked by the things being said on live feeds this season. Nicole F has already had 4 of her "sponsors" drop her from working with her for the things she's said/been involved in on the live feeds. I'm very surprised CBS hasn't addressed it. I think Da'vonne finally did something this week by using the veto! I think Dani will be gone soon after for throwing her own alliance under the bus multiple times.

i used to own an auto body repair shop and every once in a while we got a car that a skunk had gotten in to and sprayed! the only thing that got rid of the smell was opening a large can of tomato juice and letting it sit inside the car for a few days. took all the smell away!!!! i image it would work for broccoli as well as whatever residual smell might be lingering in the "shoe closet".

ps as my son got older (teen years) and he played many sports, the smell of his shoes was awful.... i called that smell "eau de boy"! hahahahahaha!!!!!

Leave a cup of white vinegar in your car overnight and it will take care of any smell! My car was once skunked. I thought I might have to burn it and start all over. But it was suggested to me by a restoration company to leave the vinegar in the car. The next morning, the skunk smell was gone! My car smelled like vinegar for a couple of days but I'll take that any day over a skunk!

Love Yellowstone! I have bought some t's, hats and sweatshirts for me and Christmas presents as our family loves it. You can also stay at the Dutton Ranch too except during the filming. I want to stay in Rip's cabin.

Um... we've been watching Yellowstone too! PREPARE yourself for the season 2 finale. Ugh. I might have ended that one in tears!!!!
