Bringing Joy in 2020

Right now amidst all things 2020 it can be difficult to find joy.  There are so many unknowns with how the upcoming school year will look, many of our favorite things have been full blown cancelled, and the fear people are experiencing is scary.  I decided this past week to shift my mind set to things that are bringing me joy.  Truly bringing me joy.  These aren't necessarily big things but they're things I'm thankful for right smack dab in the middle of 2020.

Before I share my list of things bringing me joy, let me remind you of this.
I pretty much could have began/ended the list with this alone {but that would have made for an extremely short blog post}.  :)

*  Slower pace and time to enjoy the simple things.  Oftentimes with four kids and jobs our lives can become really busy.  Too busy, in fact.  I never realized how out of control schedules can become causing us to miss out on just being together.  Lots of family time is happening with these open schedules and it's bringing me joy.

*  I don't know about you but I'm not wearing much make-up right now...{mostly just this sunscreen and this tinted moisturizer}I'll put something on but it's not a typical face with full blown make-up most days.  No matter the case I'll put on lip gloss, lipstick, or even chapstick.  There's something about having a little something on my lips that makes me feel put together.

*  My afternoon cup of coffee is one of the best parts of my entire day.  Well, who am I kidding...the first cup of morning coffee is my favorite but typically if I try to have a second cup right after my first, it just isn't as good.  It's like too much of a good thing or something?  But if I have a morning cup and then an afternoon cup it's the BEST combination.  As simple as a cup of coffee can be, it brings me joy.

*  I ordered a few things via curbside pick-up from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and these house shoes happen to bring ALL THE JOY!  They're super comfy and so far-if I leave them somewhere  and Britt sees them then she tries to sneak off with them.  Apparently, they bring her joy too.

*  You had to KNOW this would make this list.  ;)  Thankful to have something to watch!  This is a show that just feels very "summer" to me because I've watched for years.  Just having something feel so normal is what I need right now.

*  Quiet Time-This goes back to that slower pace life but during my normal schedule I'm watching the clock a little during my quiet time to keep myself on pace with what I have for the day whether it's getting work started, heading to the gym, or getting kids up for school..2020 has allowed me to truly spend uninterrupted time with Jesus.  Lots of joy in this one.

*  A sweet neighbor dropped this off for my birthday, Trader Joe's Milk & Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn.  Yes, yes, yes!  This little bag brings me joy!

*  A clean house with a candle burning brings full blown joy and lots of peace.  ;)

* A bath at the end of the day with a LOCKED bathroom door securing there are no distractions {any other moms feel me?} is one of my favorites.  I typically read a chapter or prop up my phone to watch a little Netflix and just enjoy some "me" time.

What's something bringing YOU joy in 2020?

I love this approach and I have adapted to it as well. Finding little things in life that bring me joy, focusing on the positive over the negative is so important. Thank you for opening up to us today! Happy Thursday!

Yes! Seeking out joy in these crazy days, too. Just finished a book on my Kindle on our back porch late last night. So peaceful for it to be pitch black with crickets and bugs chirping and be able to read!
