Friday Favorites-5.29.20

And we are HERE for it!

In typical Friday fashion, Andrea and I are joining forces to bring you some FAVORITES!  FRIDAY FAVORITES!  Bloggers, we'd LOVE for you to join us!

To kickoff my FAVORITES, did you see this?

No words are needed.  :)

I want to make sure you saw my Wal-Mart goodies I shared in my What's Up Wednesday post.  They are CUTE and perfect for summer!  Look at this top and these wedges...only $26!!

Love the lace details of this one{and the wrinkles-sorry, I was so excited I couldn't wait to take pics for you}.

And this jumpsuit?  In this picture above I'm in the medium.  I'm long-waisted so typically need to size up in jumpsuits.  This one has adjustable straps so I actually liked the small better.  {Pictured below-not sure you can really tell a difference.}

This is the small....did I mention there are pockets??

If you're a jumpsuit kind of girl, give this one a try!

The graphic tee {only $7 right now!} paired with this white skirt just make me smile.

My FAVORITE street really shines on Memorial Day.  I attempted to capture all the flags lining the street, but my photography skills aren't up to par.  Hope you can tell from this one how the red, white, and blue were waving in honor of all those who gave their lives for our freedoms.

A huge FAVORITE-Have you been following along with Mix and Match Travel Agency during the 31 Days of Getaways?  If not, NOW IS THE TIME TO FOLLOW!  Our giveaway kicks off on Monday and it's gonna be EPIC!  Make sure you're following along!

Did you catch my spring book review earlier this week?  Readers, you should check it out!

I just started reading, The Boy From the Woods, recommended by a girlfriend.  Have you read it?

I busted out of the house this week for dinner out with some friends and it took everything I had in me not to wear sequins.  I was so excited-a FAVORITE, for sure!  This top is 50% off right now.  I'm wearing an 8, but probably would prefer a 6.

And that wraps up my FAVES for the week!  We have a baseball tournament for the first time ALL YEAR on our calendar for the weekend and I'm SO EXCITED!  Also-BIG STUFF is coming on Monday!  Hope to see you here!

And it'll never be the same!

Sweet Ebby Lee wrapped up her elementary school days and is headed to middle school in the fall.  WWWHHHAATTTT????!!!  I literally was JUST researching preschool's in my city.  How did we get here already?  Those years are so very short, friends.
At the beginning of fifth grade that bow was her signature and around the middle of the year she retired them all.  :)  Ebby Lee has done so much growing from kindergarten all the way to this past year.  She's become a young lady who's so independent, loves Jesus with all her heart, thinks about others before herself, and is so ready to tackle middle school.  Someone might need to hold ME, but Ebby Lee will do great!  #haha #notreallyajoke

Her first day of kindergarten on the left and her last day of fifth grade on the right.

Tab and I dropped her off at school, raced to our car, and then cried our eyes out on her first day of kindergarten.  And look at her now.

Thanks for letting me brag on her today.  So very proud of how hard she's worked and looking forward to all that God has in store for her.

Bowen tackled first grade LIKE A BOSS!  He made lots of new friends and enjoyed recess more than ever.  Have I mentioned before he's my most social kid?  Life of the party is Bowen.

And let me introduce you to the latest big man on campus, new fifth grader, Nixon.  He's pumped about getting to, "rule the school".  His words, not mine.  Nix had a great fourth grade year as well.

Yesterday, they slept in and then got ready for the parade!  Our fabulous teachers paraded through all of our  neighborhoods saying a final farewell before SUMMER.

Britt didn't want anyone to forget she was there.

There are several fifth graders in our neighborhood so one mom invited everyone to walk down to the cul-de-sac to watch the parade together.

Parade watching crew

The teachers came by honking, waving, and wishing the students a great summer.  It was so sweet!

If you have an upcoming birthday parade, you need these party poppers.  We've already grabbed ours for an upcoming birthday parade.  One of my neighbors has been using them and they are super cool.  Can you spot the powder in the sky?

A few of the teachers are retiring so their drive-bys were extra special.

And just like that...the elementary years are behind us.
I'm telling you friends-the years are so short.

One thing-can you see Bowen in that picture?  I missed this group picture or would have made him put his hands down but as I was showing him what the picture looked like-meaning WHY the rabbit ears in this group picture, he misunderstood and apologized for closing his eyes.  Not exactly what I meant.

This summer I'll be snuggling this MIDDLE SCHOOLER every chance I get because before I know it, she'll be graduating from high school.

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

What's Up Wednesday-5.27.20

I'm linking up today with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday.

Today is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL and we're SO READY!  You'll find us sitting pool side {hopefully, please cooperate weather} this afternoon!

What We're Eating This Week...
We've had nothing but summer fare in our house this week and it'll continue.  Hot dogs, sausages, crab rolls, chicken caesar salads, burgers, and the list goes on.  Do you have a summer favorite I should add to our line-up?

Thanks to our new patio set up Tab is happy to be outside grilling these days.  :)

What I'm Reminiscing About...
Last year's last day of school looked WAY different.  I'm sad Ebby Lee is missing out on so many farewell to elementary activities, but we're keeping a healthy perspective about all the people who have lost so much more.  We still have so much to be thankful for.

This new fifth grader is ready to rule the school now as one of the oldest in the building.

And Bowen will be tackling second grader like a champ.  For now, we're gonna soak up ALL THE SUMMER we can.

What I'm Loving...
Peloton Friends-I'm LOVING Dennis' Country Rides.  Somehow I just discovered them.  He has about twelve and they're my new favorite.  Growing up in the country made country music my favorite and those rides fly by!

What We've Been Up To...
Polling my Instagram friends to see who Bowen resembles most.  I'm pretty sure I won this one, but my search led me to see the resemblance between Tab in this picture and Nixon when he was a toddler.

Do you see Tab here?  This is Nixon.  :)

And we've been enjoying ALL THE EXTRA FAMILY TIME!

What I'm Dreading...
Nothing at the moment.

What I'm Working On...
Organizing my bathroom closet.  I'm a product hoarder and I'm going through everything and getting rid of the items I'm not using.

What I'm Excited About...
Shay and I posted our FOURTH episode last week and I want to say a big THANK YOU!!  Thank you for all the sweet comments and messages.  We're learning the ropes but hearing your words of encouragement really help!  We still have lots to learn but thank you for following along on our journey.

What I'm Watching/Reading...
I just started reading Searching for Sylvie Lee.
*EDITED*-I wrote this post over the weekend when I really just started this book.  Since then I turned into a mad woman reading nonstop and finished this one {shared my thoughts in my book review post yesterday}, have already finished The Prenup that I mentioned I was currently reading yesterday, and just forgot to edit this post.  A reader asked and I wanted to clarify.  :)

Next up is...

Tab and I are watching Season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  {She's a comedian so the language is RR.}

What I'm Listening To...
Lots of kids talking ALL THE TIME.  :)

What I'm Wearing...
I have some CUTE, CUTE goodies I found at even better prices and I can't wait to share.  I've teamed up with Wal-Mart a few times over the last few months and every time I've gotten such great feedback.  You guys are super impressed by not only the prices but the quality as well.  Well, Wal-Mart has done it again, friends!  I found some darling things I think you'll love!
Look at this top!  I LOVE the color!  {also comes in a blue or white}  It's light, breezy, and a great top for summer.  Also note the wedges...only $26!!

A little up close so you can see the lace details of this one{and the wrinkles-sorry, I was so excited I couldn't wait to take pics for you}.

I'm wearing a small and like the fit.  I think it'd be really cute paired with high-waisted jeans as well.

What about this jumpsuit?  In this picture above I'm in the medium.  I'm long-waisted so typically need to size up in jumpsuits.  This one has adjustable straps so I actually liked the small better.  {Pictured below-not sure you can really tell a difference.}

This jumpsuit can be dressed up {like with these wedges} or dressed down.  The material is super comfy and the colors are really pretty.

This is the small....did I mention there are pockets??

If you're a jumpsuit kind of girl, give this one a try!

This outfit is bright, cheery, and basically, that's what I'm looking for right now.  The graphic tee {only $7 right now!} paired with this white skirt just make me smile.  This skirt is a bit on the longer side and is a tad high-waisted.  I was thinking of all the teachers out there when I tried it on.

A little closer look....tee and skirt.

You can shop these as well as a few other goodies here...

Thank you to Wal-Mart for sponsoring this post.

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
We'll be enjoying our first SUMMER weekend!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...
LOTS of time out here!

Thanks for reading today!

Spring Reads 2020

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you had a great weekend!

I was texting a friend last week about reading books and she said that she's either reading a ton of books every month or she's not reading at all.  And friends, that sums me right up as well.  I'm either all in and can't get enough or I'm not even interested.

Good for the readers out there, lately I've been...

Before we get into the books I've read this Spring, in case you've missed any of my quarterly reviews, you can see them all here...

The Sorenson family began by David and Marilyn falling in love back in the 1970's and this novel takes us back and forth between the current lives of their four daughters in 2016 who are all facing obstacles of their own as well as the very beginnings of their love story.

I've heard this one referred to as similar to the show, Parenthood, but I absolutely LOVED that show and this book was just "okay".  I had a hard time getting into all the characters since there were six immediate family members and then all of them had their own story lines.  It probably would have been a really good book series, but it was hard to lay it all out in one book.

Evvie Drake's husband passed away a year ago and since then she's stayed inside her house away from everyone other than a few friends.  When Dean Tenney, a former baseball player, moves into the apartment behind her house, she begins thinking it's time for her to move on.

A very cute romantic, chick-lit read!  You know these aren't my favorite, but this one was cute!

In this book, Lysa shares how when we're feeling rejected, left out, lonely, and frankly-uninvited we tend to lose our purpose for our bigger calling.  She uses biblical examples to remind us of Christ's love.

During these stay-at-home days, I've found my quiet time growing and growing, so after my bible study and prayer I read a chapter or two of this book.  Great read!

In 1982, Viv takes a job at The Sun Down Motel in Fell, New York.  Something goes wrong and Viv goes missing.  In 2017, Carly, Viv's niece decides to go to Fell, New York, to dig up everything she can about her aunt's disappearance.  She visits The Sun Down Motel, is offered a job, and discovers many of the mysteries her aunt was faced with all those years ago.

I love mystery, thriller books, BUT this one had ghosts.  It just made the story too far-fetched to me.
Shay is living life in New York City but hating every minute of it.  She wants to find love, wishes she had friends, yearns for a better job, and desires to feel included in anything.  Enter the Moore sisters.  They make Shay feel like a million bucks by adding her to their group, but in order to keep them happy she might be asked to do crazy things.

I love a thriller and this one delivered!  This one keeps you guessing with what's happening and who did what!  Thriller girls...have you read it?

Calla was born in Alaska and at the age of two her mother decided she couldn't live the Alaska-life any longer, so she took Calla to Toronto where they lived happily until Calla got a call regarding her dad's health.  She decides to go visit this place that holds so many memories between her parents, begins falling in love with the people, and...{I won't give too much away}.

I was a fan!  This is book one in a two book series and as soon as I finished this one I moved on to book two.  I'd say it's rated R, so just keep that in mind.  If these are your types of reads, READ THIS!

Grace's sister disappeared years ago and through a turn of events, she finds herself on a road trip with the guy she thinks had something to do with her disappearance as well as other girls throughout the state of Texas.

There were many things I liked about this one...loved reading about Texas and the places they were traveling, the ending was really good, and it was very suspenseful.  The middle was just really slow for me.

In this book, Melanie shows off her gift of writing by chapter after chapter of sweet little stories leaving us thankful for friendships, love, and so much more.  I couldn't put this book down!  I recommend you read it STAT!

Book two in the Alaska series and I really can't sum up this one or it'll give too much away from book one.  If you like chick-lit reads, I'd suggest these!

Have you watched the new Netflix series, Sweet Magnolias, based on this book?

Maddie's husband has an affair resulting in a pregnant girlfriend leaving Maddie battling new life as a single mom.  Her three children are affected in different ways...Tyler, the star baseball player has a tough time finding the strike zone, Kyle, the jokester of the family, stops telling jokes, and the six-year-old daughter {I can't remember her name}, is holding out hope her parents will rekindle their marriage.  Maddie finds support from Ty's baseball coach as well as her two closest friends, the others who make up the group titled, the Sweet Magnolias.  These three tackle a new adventure as they open a spa in their town of Serenity.

I thought the book was so cute and read it quickly because I couldn't put it down.  I'm only about halfway through the show, but I liked the book SO MUCH BETTER!

Sylvie gets the call her grandmother is very sick so she packs up and travels to Holland to say her final goodbyes.  While she's there she mysteriously disappears.  Meanwhile her much quieter, more reserved younger sister living in New York City throws caution to the wind and makes it her mission to unveil what happened to Sylvie.  This toggles back and forth between the two sisters and I was stunned to read what happened!

SUCH a good read if you're a thriller/mystery fan!  It was easy to follow along but suspenseful enough, I was shocked at the end.
