Anniversary Sale Goodies Reviewed

Did you see that title and think, "WHAT IS ERIKA TALKING ABOUT?".

The last time I did a product review a sweet reader told me she'd love to hear a review on the items I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  Did I end up loving them all year long?  Wear them daily?  Only wear once?   Hate the way it washed?  And I thought it was a great idea!

If you're new here, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a huge event every summer where new items from a variety of brands are offered at sale prices.  Many of the items are up and coming products for fall/winter so when I share what I bought-there's not a way to try them out before I share. Trust me-the sale ends WAY before I can wear any sweaters here in Texas. :)

We're gonna take a look back at the items I grabbed and I'll let you know how they worked out.
This leopard top and over the knee boots were both big hits!  I have both in my closet and will continue to wear them.  The boots got a lot of wear...not sure how I was living without those in my closet.

In this picture, I was showing you the AG high-waist jeans.  {I found lots of options on sale!I loved these so much I actually did a whole post about them back in the fall.  Most high-waist jeans don't look so great on the back side, but this pair does a good job.

This tank was a hit-until I washed with something else that bled ALL OVER!  This must have been BEFORE you guys recommended those color catcher sheets.  BOO!

Snakeskin boots, I LOVE and will continue wearing but most of my daily tops are patterned so I didn't wear them as much as I thought because it would have been way too much going on.

This leopard sweater let me down after a few washes.  It seemed to lose it's shape a bit, but let's talk about the jeans-MY FAVORITE BLACK PAIR!  The bottom frayed hem just gave the whole outfit a more fun look.

Olive green North Face Jacket?  Yes, ma'am!

These booties got LOTS of wear from December to February.  Wanna know what I wore from September to November?

This pair.

I need some Tom & Sheri's STAT for this tank, but I wore it all fall long.  I got this in a pattern the year before and it looks cute with denim shorts or jeans.  Very good buy!  I just saw it's 50% off right now in a very spring pattern.

I wore this several times this year, but it's just not my favorite sweater.  I passed it on to someone already.

I literally wore these pajamas to bed on Tuesday night.  Super comfy, really great for any season, and am so glad I bought them.

RIP to these gorgeous gold hoops.  I lost one several months ago and still haven't found it...yet.

Speaking of losing one earring, did Sheaffer and I ever tell you about the time she was riding in my passenger seat with me and a Stella and Dot earring she was wearing fell out?  It slid right between the seats, was SO CUTE, and she'd just gotten them.  We pulled over, used flash lights, and looked and looked and looked for that earring.  Multiple times!  And it was never seen again.  When we got rid of that vehicle, Sheaffer and I always joked about how we really should have gotten such a great price because there was one special earring STILL in there.  #somewhere

Black/gold Adidas sneakers...yes, and even comfier than they are cute.

These waterproof Ugg booties I actually replaced for the grey instead of black.  Since we didn't go skiing this year, they didn't get a ton of wear but I think we'll head to the mountains at some point next year.  Still feeling good about these...they're really comfy as well.

The shampoo/conditioner are already gone and the Moroccanoil is the perfect travel size.

Ebby Lee uses this.

Britt LOVED these shoes!  She's at the stage where her feet are growing quickly and she's not rough enough on shoes to wear them out, so we passed these onto a friend when she outgrew them.

And this cute pair of glitter booties as well.

Whew!  Okay, ladies!  That's a wrap!  For the most part, I've gotten pretty good at identifying the items I'll be wearing all fall/winter long.  However, this post helped me realize I need to steer clear of the sweater section!  Ha!  Maybe you should do your own little check too!  Are you a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopper?  What items did you REALLY love all year long?  What should you have passed on?

Tomorrow, I have a really fun Friday Favorite in store!  Hope you join us!

What's Up Wednesday-4.29.20

I'm linking up today with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday.

What We're Eating This Week...
I'm trying my best this week to not make it to the grocery store.  Which basically means we'll be eating a big random assortment of things that don't really go together.

For instance, on Monday we had salmon burgers, sweet potato gnocchi, and Mexican-style roasted corn.  See?  I wouldn't have necessarily put those things together during a typical week but these aren't typical days.

I grocery pick-up'd and didn't realize the meat {other than our salmon burgers} was all out of stock until I was back home unpacking.  I have some frozen shrimp, scallops, and turkey burgers we'll be eating this week instead.

What I'm Loving...
Just yesterday, I shared what I've been loving lately from Trader Joe's.  We also just got a few new games and the first one we've played is Exploding Kittens-it's a new love around here.

What We've Been Up To...
Lots of movie nights, game nights, family nights,

Lots of playing outside, lots of walks, and lots of bike rides,

Lots of book reading, lots of Bible study time, and lots of time remembering all we have to be thankful for.

What I'm Dreading...
I'm not sure "dreading" is the right word for this, but I met some new neighbors just yesterday and we didn't shake hands or anything like that but we said that whole, "We would shake your hand, BUT..." thing to each other.  I know things have to change for a while in order for us all to be safe but I dread the idea of a world that's still afraid to shake a new neighbors' hand or hug someone years later.

What I'm Working On...
Our school was officially closed until next year so I'm constantly working on ways to keep the fun and excitement of another day at home fresh.  You know working on something engaging for the kids to do other than watch tv all day?  #thestruggleisrealsomedays

What I'm Excited About...
Guess who made it to iTunes?  Shay and I got lots of comments and questions about if The Bestie Breakdown will be on iTunes and YES!  We finally made it!  You can search, "The Bestie Breakdown", find us there, and subscribe so you'll be notified when a new episode is up!  WAHOO!

What I'm Watching/Reading...
After our podcast last week, I got lots of thriller/scary book recommendations and am just beginning The Sun Down Motel.  {Thank you to everyone who sent me those recs!}

I'm also reading Crazy Love.  Am I the only person who didn't read this years ago?  Now the book has been revised and updated, but I'm reading the first edition and loving it!  If you're like me and haven't read it, I HIGHLY recommend it!

Tab and I are watching Season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  {She's a comedian so the language is RR.}

What I'm Listening To...
Lots of kids talking ALL THE TIME.  :)

What I'm Wearing...
Did you see my post sharing all kinds of cute and cozy things from Wal-Mart?  If not, you should check it out!

These shorts are cute, comfy, and elastic waist {hello quarantine life}!  They'll be my to go shorts all summer!  I have my normal size, but I probably should have sized up.  And my sandals are here for $7!

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
The same thing I'm doing today and probably again tomorrow.  :)

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...
It's gonna be MAY, friends!  I AM READY!

Thanks for reading today!

Loving Lately from Trader Joe's

I'm not sure about you but one of the highlights of my day {errr...maybe I should say three highlights of my day} are the meals I'm having.  There's not much else going on around here other than eating, eating, and more eating.  I've made it to Trader Joe's for groceries a few times since early March and thought I'd share what we've been loving lately.

Peanut Butter Cartwheel Cookies {starting at 12:00 and going clockwise}-These are GOOD and I'm talking REAL good.  If you're a peanut butter fan, grab a box and make sure you throw a carton of milk in your cart as well.

Everything But the Bagel Seasoning-When TJ's first opened in our area, I almost put this seasoning on too much of my food and I got burnt out real quick.  My favorite thing to top with this seasoning is the Egg Frittata.

Riced Cauliflower Stir-Fry-Tab and I will take a package of this down!  It doesn't taste exactly like "rice" but it'll satisfy a fried rice craving-for sure!  If you have a spring roll or two along with a protein, you'll thank me AND have the easiest meal ever!

Egg Frittata-This is hands-down my favorite thing from Trader Joe's.  I top two with the seasoning and it's the easiest most delicious breakfast!

Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips-Shay recommended these before my last trip and I'm SO GLAD SHE DID!  This chips are just the right amount of spicy for this girl.

Vegetable Fried Rice-Remember the cauliflower rice Tab and I take down?  Well, this bag will be taken out by the other Slaughter four at that same meal!

Truffle Marcona Almonds-You're a tad hungry and walking by the pantry?  Grab a few of these on your walk.  Or at least that's what I do multiple times a day!

Cookie Butter Ice Cream-Well, if you think the cookie butter is good, you don't even know.  This ice cream is DELICIOUS!

Everything But the Bagel Greek Yogurt Dip-I tried this on a whim and am so glad I did!  It's very similar to a french onion dip but due to the greek yogurt better for us.  My favorite way is to eat it with these...

Oven-Baked Cheese Bites-YES!  Another great and easy snack for this indoor life we've been living!

What about YOU?  What have you been LOVING LATELY from Trader Joe's?

Dressing Cozy

Well, let's be honest.  No one is inviting me to go anywhere right now.  But other than that, this meme sums up what's going on at my house.  Another Monday, another day of staying in.

With summer approaching and no school until August, our days of dressin' cozy are continuing to rise.  On my last trip out of the house to grab a few things, I found these goodies...
These girls look ready for a bike ride or walk around the neighborhood.  Don't they?

Ebby Lee's shirt, shorts, and sandals {hers are a size too big}.
Britt's tank, shorts {these are adjustable}, and sandals {hers are the right size but she's figuring out how to wear them-ha!}.

These items are all bright and fun for warm weather but super comfy as well.  Most importantly, they're all super affordable!

I got in on the action!

My top is this one.

My top is considered "sleepwear" but you'll find me wearing this 24/7.  My shorts are gonna be my go to short of 2020...they are elastic, tie in the front short, come in five other colors, and are a great mix between sweatshirt material and denim.  I'm wearing my usual small but some reviews say to size up.  And then my shoes are only $7!  I'm constantly looking for something quick to throw on as we head out on another walk around the block, say "hi" to neighbors, etc.

Super comy and looking put together.

Britt wanted a turn behind the camera.  Not too bad.  Right?
{I've been using a wide variety of self-tanners because no one will really see me.  And on this particular day, the tan is brought to you by these tan towelettes.

Ebby Lee's top and shorts.
Britt's top, shorts, and shoes.

I'm telling you these shorts are my new jam.  And this is the top I'm wearing in a large-I sized up two.

And after I took pictures of all of those goodies, I threw on this new Disney shirt to get my mind right for some travel work.  I'm praying 2020 goes back to a more normal looking year soon!

I found all of these comfy cozy pieces at Wal-Mart.  With their NextDay Delivery service and easy returns, Wal-Mart makes it a cinch to stay at home while receiving what you're shopping for right at your door.  Wal-Mart fashion is stepping up their game and the Slaughter girls are here for it!

You can see all of the items here...

This post is created in collaboration with Wal-Mart and Rewardstyle, but all opinions, product selections, and bright color choices are all my own.  Thank you for supporting my sponsors, and a big thanks to Wal-Mart for teaming up.

Friday Favorites-4.24.20

I sure did.
Did you?

Andrea and I have teamed up to share some Friday Favorites from the week and would love for you to join us!

One of Ebby Lee's assignments last week was a scavenger hunt so we all got in on the action with an afternoon walk around the neighborhood.

Ebby Lee got into the spirit for our Sports' Themed Dinner.

She enlisted some help for a little Sports Night Banner.

My boys wear jerseys all the time so when Britt realized she had one in the back of her closet {a hand-me-down} she was stoked!

One of my FAVORITE moments from the week-Bowen and I were reading a devotional from this book and God really got our attention.  The devotion we read was almost word-for-word the EXACT same message as the sermon we listened to on Sunday.  Even seven-year-old Bowen's eyes got BIG when he realized it was the same message and one clearly-we were meant to hear.

It's been a lot of the same thing happening over rides, walks, games, and movie nights.  On repeat.

Short and sweet today, but thanks for stopping by!  On Monday, I have some cute stuff to share at REALLY great prices!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!
