Friday Favorites-1.31.20

What a week!  It's been a good one but why do I feel like it's lasted 27 days instead of just five?

This is also how I'm feeling about the last week...

Dear Winter,
I'm still waiting for snow.  If it's not happening for us this year, please pack up your things and return in December.
Love, Erika

It's FRIDAY though so I'm talking FAVORITES with Andrea and Narci.

First up, is my obsession with Cheer on Netflix.  It's a FAVORITE!  Have you watched?  I shared all the love in my post yesterday.  You should read!

Speaking of late Netflix FAVORITES, have you watched Virgin River?  I watched it while Britt was recovering and thought it was good!  I'm ready for Season 2!!

This is exactly how I finished both of those series over the last month.  I looked just like her.

Okay, I'm not calling this EXACT dessert a FAVORITE.  For some strange reason, I ordered two little pints of this, Arctic Zero, the last time I did grocery pick-up.  This Cake Batter and a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  I wasn't a fan of the cake batter, but the cookie dough was really good.  If you're gluten free or dairy free, I'd highly recommend these.  I am not, but was trying to find an alternative to my normal Cookies 'N Cream ice cream for dessert and gave them a try.

Miss Britt's recovery is definitely a FAVORITE from my week!  After her appointment on Tuesday, she can eat ANYTHING!  We still have to take it easy with straws and be careful when she's being active BUT other than that-this girl is good to go!  I'll have to share a side-by-side when it's completely healed.  It looks SO GOOD!  I had to tell her doctor I was sorry for ever doubting him at the appointment on Tuesday.  I was so worried about how it would look knowing there's nothing he can really tell me until he gets in there.  So, we went over and over it.  Needless to say, I never should have doubted him.  If you have a cleft cutie and are local to Dallas in need of a great doctor, message me and I'll give you our recommendation.  We LOVE him!

A FAVORITE #ootd...when I'm working from home or {like yesterday} from Starbucks, I love a comfy cardigan.  It gives the illusion I'm wrapped up in a blanket while I work.  ha!  Everything I'm wearing is super old...especially the jeans {but they're my FAVORITE!} except the shoes.  I got mine in the fall but these are super similar.  Earrings are still in stock.

My girlfriend, Jennifer, has a health coach business where she partners with clients to customize plans for them to achieve success.  Jennifer is fabulous and just recently started a podcast.  You know me and my love for podcasts so I listened this past week to her interview with Dr. Jeff Warren.  Dr. Warren was our pastor when Tab and I first began calling our current church home.  He is an incredible leader who is always so real with issues and topics happening in today's world.  I was excited to listen and it was a FAVORITE from the week!  While, I'm strongly encouraging you to listen, my biggest takeaway had nothing to do with anxiety or depression {the podcast topic} but my screen time.  Our kiddos don't have cell phones yet but this podcast hit me hard with what rules Tab and I have around our own screen time so that when the day does come for us to have kids with phones, it'll be so much easier to implement the rules we expect from them.  Whether you're someone who struggles with anxiety or depression or not, I'd love for you to take the thirty minutes to listen.  I hope it'll be a bit of a gut check for you as well.

Okay, friends!  That wraps up my list for the week!  May your coffee be strong and your weekend feel really long!  Happy, Happy Friday!

Everyone's Talking About It...

Okay, have you watched CHEER on Netflix?

I've been seeing it EVERYWHERE and am so thankful for bossy friends who told me to watch.
I hunkered down with Netflix and managed to binge watch  by staying up WAY too late this weekend.  Apparently, I'm committed to getting a job done as well as committed to the Navarro Cheer Team.

If you've never heard of this series, Cheer, on Netflix, it's a docu-series with six-one-hour-episodes following the Navarro Cheer Team, from a junior college in Navarro, Texas, as they prepare to compete at nationals in Daytona, Florida.  Not only is it motivating and inspiring, but you follow along with this squad of both guys and girls who have lived some tough lives.  You find yourselves rooting for each and everyone of them.  And if you're like me, you end the series brainstorming ways you could make Monica proud yourself.

I'd like to stop right here to tell you to GO WATCH CHEER ON NETFLIX IMMEDIATELY!  Cancel your weekend plans and watch all six episodes this weekend.  #youcandoit

If you haven't watched but are planning on watching, please stop reading here and come back when you've completed the entire season.  I don't have any big spoilers but nothing will really make sense without watching the show.

Now, go watch so you can see what all the hype is about!

Every once in a while, a show captures my attention and my heart and has me wanting to finish as quickly as possible.  Well, Cheer did just that.  I finished on Sunday afternoon and knew I wanted to talk to you about it.  I must say when I was scanning the internet for information, I found some things you need to read or watch...

Not only are we, everyday women fascinated with the Navarro Cheer Team, celebrities are just as addicted.  J.J. Watt, I FEEL you!!  This was me when I watched!  I LOVE JERRY!

Celebrity "Cheer" Tweets Article-You've gotta read all the other celebrity tweets about this show!  They're AMAZING!

Cheer Performs on Ellen-Did you see the team perform on Ellen?  Clearly, my emotions for these kids are still at an all-time high because at the end of the video when Ellen gives them the check, I teared up.

Cheer Memes-YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Cheer Teaches Kalen Some Moves-There's a huge soft spot in my heart for all of them, but Jerry has a special place.  When he teaches Kalen "mat talk"...well, I loved it.

Here's to hoping Monica is looking for one more girl for mat in 2021!  Fingers crossed she's looking for someone who can't tumble or stunt but has some really voluminous hair.
Think I've got a chance?

Have YOU watched?!  Or are you adding it to your weekend plans?  ;)

What's Up Wednesday 1-29-20

I'm linking up today with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday.

What We're Eating This Week...
I'm cooking all the things this week!  Tab and Nixon were out of town over the weekend so the other three and I kind of scrounged and ate out.  Now we're all ready for some REAL food!  We've had chicken and meatloaf {because I'm still addicted to this ketchup and I'm trying to make anything I can to dip it}.  Tonight we're having meatballs because I can't quit with that ketchup.

What I'm Reminiscing About...
Bowen and I were just talking about his first day of kindergarten.  Now he's over halfway through first grade.  Time, I have a love/hate relationship with you right now.

What I'm Loving...
I'm loving my new bible study, Discerning the Voice of God.  Priscilla Shirer is always a favorite.

What We've Been Up To...
When Tab and Nixon were out of town, we found ourselves playing with Snapchat filters.

We also made our way to North Park Mall to shop with the Shull girlies.

What I'm Dreading...
We moved Bowen's stuff into the third bedroom upstairs, but haven't painted or completed it.  We need to get on that and to be honest-I'm dreading it.  Years ago, when we first bought our home and it was just the two of us, I loved walking up and down aisles searching for the best home ideas or inspirations.  Now?  I don't have time for all that.  I want our home to feel good and cozy, but please someone send me a link of the paint color we need in Bowen's new room!  haha!

What I'm Working On...
I've been working with lots of families on amazing Walt Disney World vacations for their families!  This happens to be some of my close friends, Brooke and her family, we sent to Walt Disney World and then...
they boarded a Disney Cruise.  Aren't they CUTE?

We'd love to help YOU with an upcoming vacation too!  Right now, we're working on Walt Disney World, cruises, and international vacations.  If you'd like some help, please send us an e-mail

What I'm Excited About...
BRITTY'S SURGERY BEHIND US!!!  WAHOOO!!!  It feels so good to be finished with that one.  CHECK!  Thank you again for all your prayers!  They were felt!  XO

What I'm Watching/Reading...
I binge watched Cheer on Netflix over the weekend and am certain I'm needed at every home game in Navarro, Texas, this fall.  Have you watched it?  I got sucked in and could not look away!  It was so good!

Still working my way through this one.  :)

What I'm Listening To...
Our family received an Amazon Show for Christmas and we constantly have music playing in the kitchen.  How have we lived without this?  We're listening to Christian, hip hop, all the Frozen songs, and so much more!

What I'm Wearing...
Lots of sweaters right now.  Mine is sold out, but this is on sale and in stock.

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
Volleyball tournament for this cutie!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...
One more month of down time before ALL THE SPRING sports begin.  I'm soaking it up.

Thanks for reading today!

Tuesday's Top Three-Gifts from 2019

Hey Hey!

We're back (ALMOST) into the swing of normal life.  Britt has a check-up today and I'm praying the doctor gives us the all clear for any food so this girl can head back to school tomorrow.  She's doing great!  So great, in fact, I cannot hold her down any longer.  At the beginning of the recovery, she just laid around watching movies.  Now, she is on the move  and there's no holding her back!

Today is a Top Three post about our favorites from 2019.

First up, I asked my Instagram friends what their FAVORITE GIFT was in 2019.

Any guesses on the TOP THREE?

I own all three of these and am fans of each item!

Any guesses on the TOP THREE items purchased from my blog in 2019?

Another shoe color option that looks a little more "summer".

Apparently, you guys are digging a water bottle, Mom Jeans 2.0, and comfy shoes.  YOU ARE MY PEOPLE!  :)

Okay, now I'm adding my TOP THREE FAVORITES from the year.  These are all things making my life a little easier.  #thosearealwaysmyfavorite

These things all made my 2019 easier.  I'm pretty sure I got that slow cooker in 2018, but my superwoman vibes still happen when I walk in the door and dinner is ready.

Honorable mention goes to...
I use one every other week to shave my face.  It leaves my face so smooth and makes make-up applications so darn easy.  If you haven't been doing this, TRY IT!

I've already tried a few things this year I can't wait to share with you!  And what is YOUR favorite thing from 2019?

Rose Bowl Trip-Part Six-THE BIG DAY!

FRIENDS!  It's HERE!  The BIG DAY of our trip...FINALLY!

On Wednesday, January 1st, my alarm went off super early.  And I do mean super.  We boarded our bus at 5:55 a.m! Remember me telling you the Rose Bowl spoiled the families?  Well, this is the perfect example-we had a big bus with police escorts take us to the Rose Bowl parade.
This was us...up super early, super excited, and without a clue on what we should be expecting.

Our seats were amazing and were on the very first little turn of the parade.

We arrived in our seats about an hour before the parade began.  Someone, I'm not even sure who, brought donuts and passed those out to keep us entertained.

Can you spot the lady in the pink coat?

It's HODA!

Do you remember the first time I saw Hoda?  Here's a clue...

At the parade, Hoda popped out of The Today Show area just to greet people and mingle with the crowd, which was so super sweet.  My other celeb sighting of the day was Bob Guiney.  He happened to be walking right across our bleachers and someone in the crowd yelled, "It's Bob from the Bachelor!  HI BOB!!!, with as much enthusiasm as all my exclamation points.  ;)

A view of The Today Show, where Al and Hoda were hanging, from my seat.

These two...besties.

A few people took pictures of our crew so the first five rows of this set of bleachers were all officials' families and guests.

Our big group for the day...can you spy us back there?

This was SUCH a cool experience!!!  We've watched this parade on television for years but seeing it in person was super cool.

As soon as the parade was over our group split and if I'm being honest, it was chaos making our way back to the bus.  At one point, I asked a fellow officials' daughter if she'd keep up with Bowen so I could carry Britt.  Spoiler alert-somehow we ALL managed to make it to the bus.  #winning

The bus took us directly to the VIP Tailgating Party...
There was a huge indoor tent with two big lines of food, two big spots with desserts, lots of televisions, a big bar area, and lots of fun decor.

Burgers?  Hot dogs?  Dessert?

Yes, please!

There was additional seating outside complete with a band and team representation from Oregon and Wisconsin.

It was a bit chilly inside the tent so we grabbed a table outside on the sun.

Sprites all around made these four super happy.

We found a few seats inside to catch a little bit of this game before walking over to the Rose Bowl.

On our way to the stadium, I HAD to take this picture.  Remember this?

Halloween 2018...where these two should have been driving around in that doggy van.

Please note...we all dressed in our black/white for the day!

We made it to our seats about an hour before kickoff and we spotted Tab down on the field!

We had great seats right near the 40 yard line.

Look who got a bunch of air time during kickoff!

I received lots of texts, messages, and videos from you guys and threw some into a collage.  THANK YOU for being excited for us!

The weather was absolutely amazing!  The vibe in the stadium was great!

I stole this collage from Marla's Facebook, but this was something really cool about The Rose Bowl.  Twenty-four years ago Tab's dad, Gary, officiated this same game and eighth-grade-Tab watched from the sidelines.  {Yes, the sidelines!  My, oh my, how the times have changed.}  Needless to say, this game was super cool on many levels for our family.

Such a COOL experience!!  I'm so thankful we got to be a part of it.  This day represented a whole lot of work finally paying off.  This was a dream come true, bucket list item, and goal was met-kind-of-day for our family.  All six of us sacrifice a lot throughout the year in order to make this side gig of college football officiating work.  Tab has clinics, practices, spring games, tests, film, as well as the regular season where he's gone and I'm solo parenting, the kids miss him being at things, and Tab misses those moments as well.  So, this event was a big accomplishment for all six of us.  We ALL celebrated BIG!

And to be honest...we made it back to the bus, which dropped us off at our hotel around 6:00 p.m...just twelve hours after we'd been picked up for the parade.  There was a fun little post-party with food, drinks, and tvs set up and then we were OUT!

Whew!  What a DAY!

And to recap our other days of the trip...

Remember, Mix and Match Travel Agency doesn't book this exact trip quite yet, but we can help you with a Walt Disney World trip, cruises, or any international trip.  Just e-mail us at to learn more!

Happy Monday, Everyone!
