Friday Favorites-Good Friday Edition

Happy Easter Weekend, Friends!

Our weekend starts today with NO SCHOOL!  My kiddos are excited about that.  :)  I've teamed up with my girls, Narci and Andrea, to bring you some FAVORITES.  If you're a blogger, we'd love for you to join us.  Simply grab our graphic, link back to us, and add your site to the bottom of the post.

My list is a bit short today, but here we go...

Did you see Britt's 10 Month Adoption Post yesterday?  If you missed it, check it out!  Our girl has come SO FAR in the last ten months and she has us ALL wrapped around her little finger.

I went to Bowen's Easter Egg Hunt at school yesterday and this is the only picture I took.  He was a BLUR running around the room so quickly!  ha!  And boo to rainy weather that causes all the egg hunt fun to be indoors.  Right?

I was in search of some fun spring tops that can be worn with jeans or shorts.  I found this top (I sized up to a medium), paired it with my white jeans (I have two pairs-this is my other pair-and they're being price matched right now), and this necklace for a fun spring look.  Sorry about this picture!  My full length mirror was back in our bedroom and the lighting is even worse in our bedroom than the bathroom.  #iknowitsoundsunbelieveable #butitstrue

Say Hello to Sexy Legs Tinted Glow Gel-Have you tried this tanner?  I tried it back in the middle of winter and it was TOO much.  It didn't look realistic at all on my super fair skin.  But I've used it a couple times lately and (maybe after THE BEST SPRING BREAK TRIP EVER) it works!  I use it all over...not just on my legs.  The color is a very pretty dark tinted color.  You can instantly see if it is streaky, and it makes me a really pretty color that my fair skin will just never be.  (When I get a tan, I still get a bit red.)  If you're wanting some COLOR, give this a shot!

On this Good Friday, I want to leave you with this song, Love Ran Red by Chris Tomlin.  Just a bit of the lyrics...

There's a place where mercy reigns

And never dies
There's a place where streams of grace
Flow deep and wide
Where all the love I've ever found

Comes like a flood
Comes flowing down
At the cross, at the cross

I surrender my life
I'm in awe of You
I'm in awe of You
Where Your love ran red
And my sin washed white
I owe all to You
I owe all to You, Jesus

If you've never heard it, please go check it out!

This weekend we celebrate a RISEN SAVIOR, and for that I'm so thankful.

Hope you guys have the BEST EASTER weekend!  Thanks for stopping by today and see you Monday!

Bringing Home Britt-Post Adoption 10 Months

Oh my goodness, friends!  TEN MONTHS!

Can you believe it?  I hope you can tell from the pictures Miss Britt has gone from quiet, very reserved, and guarded to a sweet, often spicy (she can hang with her older siblings) bundle of joy that has us all wrapped around her finger!

This past month I've noticed major leaps and bounds in her receptive language.  Well, maybe I should add that I REALLY paid attention this month to see how much she understands and it's a LOT!

Just yesterday, we were reading some books and I asked if she wanted to sing, "The Wheels on the Bus".  We have that book, but we haven't read it in a while, but she instantly started looking under the coffee table and in her basket of toys for the book.  I knew exactly what she was doing and was surprised she even remembered.

She might very well be the pickiest eater on my entire street.  I'm trying not to worry about it one bit because she's still growing so that just might be her. (Our pediatrician's words)  She just might be teeny!

Speaking of growing, she's on the cusp of outgrowing all her 12-18 month clothes!! WAHOO!  This is HUGE!  I'd say the perfect fit would be a 12-18 and a half.  ha!  The 18-24 month options can be a little too long in the arm, but the length in her legs is perfect.

She also is now wearing a size 3 in shoes!  I'm telling you...we're growing.  Slowly, but surely. ;)

We're still working a ton on words and it is slow going, but then I look back at how far we've come and am completely overwhelmed.  You guys she was JUST sitting when we got her ten months ago.  Not crawling, not walking, not climbing, not pulling up....just sitting.  And now she can run down the driveway WITHOUT falling, climb the steps, and do this...

Take a peek at what's for dinner.  :)

She loves Tab and gets so excited when he gets home from work, but I'm still her favorite person.  #mamasgirl

What can I say she has our hearts...ALL FIVE OF THEM!

I mentioned yesterday that I'm working on a post-all cleft related.  I'm by no means an expert, but I think it would be helpful to new cleft mamas to have a post they could read full of information.  If you have anything to share (I'm talking best way to feed your cleft baby, best sippy cup you used, etc.).  Please send me an e-mail  THANK YOU to all the mamas who've sent in some GREAT ideas already!

I'll never be able to put into words how much adoption has affected our family and me as a person, a wife, and a mom.  I look back on this and think WHY did we wait so long to take that leap of faith.  Adoption is amazing.  If God has laid adoption on your hearts, it's there for a reason.  Please know I'm praying for you today.

If you missed any of my adoption posts, you can find them...

What's Up Wednesday

I'm joining MelShay, and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday link-up!

What we're eating this week:

Tab was out of town earlier this week so there were a whole lot of peanut butter and jellys being served for dinner.

Wednesday-Spicy Chicken and Corn Tacos-When Tab is out of town I rarely cook and I love that, but then I get to a point where I need a MEAL {You know something that I wouldn't pack in my child's lunchbox?}!  So I'm pumped about these tacos for dinner!

Thursday-Steak and Wedge Burgers...YESSSSS!!

Friday-Chicken Caesar Rice Bowls-I let my kids assemble these themselves and for some reason that tends to directly affect how much they eat-in a good way!

What I'm Reminiscing About:

I know.  I know.  I keep talking about it.  But I just can't stop!  Our Spring Break Disney Land and Sea Vacation with the Shull Six was A BLAST!  It's the kind of trip they'll compare other vacations to forever!  If you missed any posts, you can read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.

What I'm Loving:

THIS WEATHER!!!  (Well, at this EXACT moment it's kind of yucky and raining)  BUT...the longer days and spring weather has been AWESOME!

What We've Been Up To:

We've been busy planning our April birthday celebrations.  This girl has opted for a night at Great Wolf Lodge with a friend for a more casual celebration.

And Nixon is requesting a flag football party in the park with a bunch of friends.  Well, let me rephrase that...he actually requested a tackle football party, but I told him that was not happening.  So we compromised at a flag football party.  :)

What I'm Dreading:

I've taken a big long break from my decluttering, but it's time to start again!  And I'm dreading it.  *I haven't done a THING in an entire month.  I need to start ASAP!

What I'm Working On:

All kinds of Disney Land and Sea Vacations for families like YOU!  If you've been thinking of taking a Disney World vacation or maybe a Disney Cruise or possibly even combining them, then please shoot us an e-mail.  We'd love to help!
We're also sending new clients to Mexico and cruises all over the world.

What I'm Excited About:

I'm working on a post answering all kinds of cleft-related questions.  I'm by NO means an expert, but I do think it'd be so helpful to have lots of information all in one place.  If you're a cleft mama I'd love for you to contribute.  If you have any helpful hints, suggestions, or even questions, please send them my way.  You can e-mail me at

What I'm watching/reading:

I just finished this book and I could NOT stop talking about it.  Ask any of my girlfriends, we'd be chatting about school homework and I'd somehow steer the conversation back to Elizabeth Smart and this book!  It's horrific and awful and my heart breaks that a fourteen-year-old girl had to go through this, but her outlook on life is simply amazing.  You should read this one!

I'm watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta because I just can't stop. #still

And the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills because one of these shows just wouldn't be enough.  hahaha!

What I'm Listening To:

This soundtrack is playing in my car 24/7. #still

And we've been listening to "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons.  I'm not sure who asked about this song, but a kiddo did and we're still listening.  #stilllisteningtothisonetoo

What I'm Wearing:

I've been wearing this dress and loving it!

Also this one is a new favorite too!

And because I'm apparently having no shame while I work on this post, I'm sharing that picture of my crazy hair again!  ha!  Someone asked about the shoes I'm wearing and they're the perfect spring shoe.  Right now, it's a bit too cool at night to wear sandals but I don't want to wear these are the perfect alternative.  I also have this pair, but I'd say the black ones are my comfortable.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:

Celebrating Easter with my family.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:

We have a fun April planned....two big birthdays happen in our house, a family visit, lots of baseball and volleyball games, and tons of spring weather that allows us to play outside until bedtime.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  XO

Disney Land and Sea Part 4

I'm back today with my LAST recap of our DISNEY LAND AND SEA VACATION.   Just a couple weeks ago, we ventured off {along with the Shull Six} to a couple days at Disney World and then followed it up with a Disney Cruise.  If you've missed any recaps from last week, you can read Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Wednesday morning this crew was ready for a day at sea.
These three look ready, but check out Britt???

I said, "Britty, what are you doing?" and got this response.  A BIG smile.  :)

We had meet and greets with the princesses right after breakfast.

Britt preferred watching with me.

Until she realized...ALL she had to do was stand there!  ha!

And on this trip I declared Tiana my favorite!  All the other princesses said something very quickly and then grabbed a picture with the kids.  {Which was still nice, BUT...} Tiana took her time.  She had a few people waiting for her, but was so sweet talking to the kiddos no one minded waiting a few minutes.  She sit them down to chat first.

And then followed it up with a picture!

Next up was Cinderella.

Then we moved over to "Arendelle" to meet Anna and Elsa.

So much fun!

And then I have NO pictures of our day!!  After enjoying a bit of pool time {chilly, pool time I should was a bit cool}, the big kiddos watched a movie in the theater.  The little kiddos were begging to go to the Kid's Club.  {And Britt went to the nursery for a bit as well.}  We kind of all spread out on the ship.  Shay and I MIGHT have been under towels on the pool deck reading our books.

Wednesday night our meal was at Triton's.  I'd say it has the reputation for being the more "formal" of the dining spots on the ship.  After dinner, kiddos went to childcare for just about an hour while we played 90's Trivia.  We were pretty good at 90's Music Trivia...I should add.  And then it was time for the Frozen show.  SO SO GOOD!

The next morning we were up early for breakfast before disembarking and heading back to the airport.
If you know me and the Orlando airport, then you'd NOT be surprised to hear that our flight was delayed about four hours before we finally headed back to Dallas.

I was on the verge of sneaking away to this spa!  hahaha!  Think Tab would have noticed I left?

During the wait, I looked over and saw this.

And my heart melted.

I must add that while we were waiting American Airlines brought out this cart full of sandwiches, snacks, and drinks.  I had such a good attitude about how they wanted to make it all better and THEN we got to Dallas and had to wait again almost thirty minutes again for our gate to open up.  I just had to laugh.

And I'm sure lots of you have questions about the nursery.  I have nothing but great things to say.  They would feed them, change diapers, and even did CRAFTS with them....

Isn't that cute?

We had the most FABULOUS time!

If you'd like help planning your very own Disney Land and Sea Vacation, we'd love to help.  Please e-mail us at  Right now we're also sending new clients to Mexico and cruises all around the world.  Just shoot us an e-mail to learn more.

Hodge Podge

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Today is a HODGE PODGE day of all the random thoughts and pictures I've got floating around in my head and on my camera roll.  ;)

Let's get started!!

We've loved getting to watch Nixon play some baseball.  Miss Britt is a trooper at baseball games.  As long as she has a snack, this girl is GOOD!  And her snack preference is popcorn.

*After taking this, I realized her strap was ALL messed up.  While we waited for Tab, I had PLENTY of time to fix it.  ;)

 A day full of baseball...

The weekend before Spring Break, Shay hosted our Bible Fellowship girls for a night of appetizers and desserts along with a Favorite Beauty Product Exchange.  We were all supposed to bring a beauty product ($15 limit) that we loved for a little Dirty Santa style exchange (you know the kind where you can steal the gift from others).  I took cash with the instructions for the recipient to purchase themselves a Play Box by Sephora.

I've talked about the Play Box by Sephora before, but I'm about to do it again.  This month I received a Buxom lip liner, a Sephora powder foundation, a Lancome make-up removing cleanser, Verb Ghost Oil, and Murad's SPF sunscreen and primer combo.  All of that to try and sample for $10!  If you're needing a great gift for a girl who likes trying new products, this would be perfect.  I've mentioned before that I loved getting my Birchbox, but often times that box had products I could only order online through Birchbox.  I really like this Play Box because the products can all be found in store at Sephora and many are found in department stores as well.

On that note, every month around the 20th, I start looking forward to my box.  And any other online orders I've purchased.  ;)  Anyone else?

I can also get pretty excited about my groceries getting delivered too.  haha!

This picture...

1. Look how high my hair is.  I'm hoping that's due to the winds?
2. Britt made a little friend and kept hugging him.  She thought she was too funny.
3.  Photo credit goes to Bowen Slaughter.

I'm telling you-she was REALLY proud of herself.

My sister-in-law made a last minute trip through town the Friday of Spring Break.  We were knee deep in mounds of laundry so a quick break to meet them was exactly what we needed.  We met up at Obstacle Ninja Warrior.  Britt almost had the little kid area to herself so she was all about this trampoline.

On this day, Britty was hanging out at M's house coloring AND snacking on Cheetos.  She was living the life!

I know I've mentioned before that Shay and I carpool.  Miss Madeley is a good time.  ALWAYS.

Do you have the Chatbook app?  If not, you should think about grabbing it.  Chatbook sends you a book full of your Instagram posts as soon as you have a full book.  We just received a couple in the mail and this one in particular was all about our China trip.

We recently attended the cutest little unicorn parties for two of our favorite little girls.  Ebby Lee got asked to face paint and to be honest, I was a bit nervous. guys I should have taken a picture of her unicorn.  She has some face painting SKILLS!  Bowen had asked for a sword.

Bowen had his first tee-ball game of the season on Saturday.  This year is SO much better than last year.  He just GETS it so much more.  He had the best time and that's what it's all about.

My favorite number 6!

I wore this dress on the Disney Cruise and bought it from a local boutique in McKinney, but I just found it on Nordstrom's website!

What's your food that you just can't quit?  My snack of choice would be chips and salsa everyday BUT that just doesn't seem right.  I'm having a THING with these Triscuits right now.  Do you have a food like this?  One you just can't quit?

I just ordered my first three Dry Shampoo options for my challenge.  My plan is to try them all and then pass them on to some friends so I can combine the results.  The first three I ordered to try (in no particular order)...

I hope you Easter bunnies out there have already done your shopping.  I stocked up on spring things just last week...chalk, bubbles, goggles, etc.  And I just added the ingredients for these Resurrection Rolls to my grocery order this week.  They're the perfect way to help kiddos understand the resurrection in a super tangible way.

I hope you enjoyed the Hot, Random Mess I had going on today!  See you back here tomorrow for my LAST SPRING BREAK RECAP!
