Happy Halloween

May your day be full of laughter, fun, and all the candy you can eat.  :)

Friday Favorites

It's FRIDAY!  Can I hear you whooping and hollering?  :)

I'm joining my girls, Andrea and Narci, to share my Friday Favorites!

Here are some of my faves...
I was getting some stuff done around the house and I spotted two sweet girls playing on the balcony. A FAVORITE view from the week.  :)

I shared this top earlier this week.  The top is sold out, but the boutique has some FAVORITE goodies!

My three FAVORITES before our Sunday School's Harvest Party.

A few of my FAVORITE girls. :)

My FAVORITE combo this year...Jasmine and her tiger, Rajah.

One of my FAVORITE fall activities...Harvest Party.  Andrea is the brains behind the operation, I'll give you the details.  She rents an outdoor space, reserves a bounce house, and we all bring soups/stews in slow cookers for dinner.

One of my new FAVORITE dresses arrived this week!  SO cute and comfy!  The dress is here (I ordered a medium because I wanted it to be plenty long), scarf is similar here, and booties are similar here.  This vest (I shared a while back) is still one of my favorite things from this boutique.

We celebrated one of my FAVORITE friend's birthday this week.  Shay had a birthday earlier in the week and we met up for dinner with her and her family to celebrate.

These people are some of my FAVORITES!  All the heart eyes for this picture.  That Madeley's smile is the cutest!

You guys are my FAVORITE as well!  I asked for advice and recommendations for what to do in New York City and you guys delivered!!  Check out all the comments here.   Thank YOU for taking time out of your day to help me out.  I really appreciate YOU!

Was that a "Hot Random Mess" enough for you?  haha!  I was all over the place today, but that's what Friday Favorites are all about.  Right?

Hope you have a SPOOKY weekend!  XOXO

Our Fall To-Do's...

I have had this post in the making for weeks and something else just kept popping up.  So instead of making a full blown bucket list, I'm sharing what we've done or will be doing this fall.  These are our family's fall favorites...

 *Halloween Party at School
Bowen and Ashby aren't in the same class this year so we won't get to recreate this picture.  Bowen is looking forward to celebrating with a yummy treat at school.

*Trunk or Treat
Last year our church started a new tradition...Trunk or Treat.  Trunks are decorated, candy is passed out, and everyone is all dressed up.

 *Dressing Up
That's fun for everyone.  Right?  I've procrastinated big time on this one, but I'm hoping to find something for Tab and I to dress up in.  I'll keep you posted.  :)

We meet up with friends every year and trick or treat around town.

We've been the boo'er and the boo'ee...no matter which side you're on it's a fun little tradition.

 *Pumpkin Patch
There's something about having all my pumpkins at the patch.  It makes my mama heart happy.

*State Fair of Texas
We've already hit up the fair this year and it did not disappoint!

*Make Soup/Chili

*Have Smores

*Carve Pumpkins

What about you?  Does your family have a special fall tradition?  If so, PLEASE share!  Happy Thursday, Friends!  See you back here tomorrow for some faves.  :)

What's Up Wednesday

I'm joining MelShay, and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday link-up!

What we're eating this week:
Monday-Family Golf Night-so we grabbed something before our round of golf.
Tuesday-We had pizza at one of my favorite pizza places!
Wednesday-BBQ Chicken Tacos are up tonight!
Thursday-BBQ Chicken Rice Bowls-I'm making extra chicken tonight so dinner will be ready crazy quick tomorrow night.
Friday-On Fridays, Mama likes to keep the kitchen clean by going out.

What I'm Reminiscing About:
At this time last year I was binge watching my way through the entire series of Gilmore Girls.  Oh my goodness!  I LOVED that show!  Apparently, it's what I do in October because as teeny bopper as it is...I'm doing the same with One Tree Hill right this second!

What I'm Loving:
THIS WEATHER!  Our weather has been incredible!  This week the highs are in the 80's, but the 80's are feeling like fall 80's and not middle of summer 80's...if that makes any sense.  ha!  We've officially busted out all the fall clothes!

What We've Been Up To:
ALL THE FALL activities!

What I'm Dreading:
Nothing at the moment.

What I'm Working On:
Light fixture hunt!  The front sitting room is almost completely finished.  I just have to find a new light fixture.  Right now there's an ugly white fan.  Ugh!

I was working on this last month...still working.  :)

What I'm Excited About:
Taking these crazies to New York!  THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your recommendations yesterday.  I appreciate them SO much!

What I'm watching/reading:
I'm in the middle of Season 5 on One Tree Hill.  I'm not even reading a book right now because I can't wait to get to the end of this show.

What I'm Listening To:
The same songs as usual...Kidz Bop, Disney, and Christian music.

What I'm Wearing:
Top:  Exact here. (On super sale!)
Jeans:  Similar here.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:
We have all kinds of Halloween fun planned for the weekend.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:
Seeing all these faces in layers of fall clothes around a Thanksgiving table.

Hope you ladies have a great Wednesday!  XOXO

Need Your Help!

I have some fun news...

Not today, we're headed to New York City in a couple weeks!!!

My one and only trip to NYC happened earlier this year with Shay. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FRIEND!) It was an absolute BLAST and couldn't have been a better girl's trip.  You can see all our fun here and here.

This time I'm going with the family and I'm hoping for your help!

Tab has work to do so we're turning a work trip into a little family getaway.  We have a couple split days for sightseeing and such.  What would be your MUSTS in NYC with kiddos?  Do you have any favorite restaurants?  I'd LOVE your advice and help on this one.

I can't thank you enough for your help!  Please let me know any recommendations!

This Deserved It's Own Post

I had another post all planned for today, but decided yesterday to scrap it.  This is a space where I share our life and this little piece just needed it's very own post.  Hopefully, it helps you start your Monday with a smile on your face.  Let me know if you agree.  :)

Early Saturday evening the kiddos and I headed to the theater to see Storks.  One half of our group..

The other half :)  We counted popcorn as dinner.

Tab was out of town at the TCU/West Virginia game in West Virginia.  The movie had JUST begun when I got a text from my cousin that contained this link...  You HAVE to watch!

EEK!!!  I panicked!  Tab is the guy colliding with the TCU running back.  I was scared he'd gotten hurt, (Have you guys ever seen a clip of an official getting plowed?  It happens and I was imagining Tab on the bottom of a pile.) so I made all the kiddos go out in the hall with me to watch the video.  After watching...OH MY GOODNESS!!

The big kids totally "got" the video and we all had a moment of laughing hysterically in the hall.  The kiddos thought the BEST part was when the announcer laughed and said his name.

It really is a wonder more people don't bump into him in the middle of the field like that.  Right?  This kind of stuff is accidentally going to happen.  I'm just so thankful no one got hurt.

My cousin, Whitney, an avid sports' fan sent me this from Twitter.  I didn't even have a Twitter account, but created an account so I could see the link.  haha!

I love how ESPN gave Tab that white spotlight.  Don't you?  And the caption...hilarious!

I thought it might bring a little smile to your Monday, because it sure made us laugh on Saturday night.

Know where we'll be tonight?  The five of us will be watching ESPN hoping this makes the "C'Mon Man" segment before Monday Night Football.  hahahaha!!  I'll keep you posted.

Hope your Monday has a little laugh courtesy of Tab.  :)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  Whew, am I glad to see the weekend.  We all have those weeks we're just not on our "A" game, right?  This apparently has been my week.  On Tuesday evening, I had girl's night and had dinner in the slow cooker.  Tab was on kid duty and decided to take them out to eat instead.  Which to me means...CLEAN KITCHEN.  I told him we'd eat it on Wednesday.  On Wednesday morning, I woke up to see THAT dinner still out on the counter.  I had put it away and for some reason my sweet loving husband set it out to cool off!  UGH.  On Wednesday evening, I was busy cooking dinner knowing we had to leave our house for something at 6:00 p.m.  I glanced at the clock that said 5:20 as I popped dinner in the oven that took 35 minutes to cook.  Needless to say, we scratched dinner that night and grabbed something out as well.  I was just off my "A" game, which hopefully means next week I'm a rockstar.  ;)  At least that's what I'm hoping for.  ha!

I'm joining Andrea and Narci to share some Friday Favorites with you.

Shay and I met up for a quick lunch this week before letting the kiddos play at the park.  These three are a mess!  haha!

Take two...Bowen was apparently feeling the photo session.

My FAVORITE pictures are the next two...which happen to be the two Bowen and Ashby took of each other.
Pretty good, huh?

They might both have a future in photography.

My sister-in-law posted this and I could NOT stop laughing.  Definitely a FAVORITE and how I feel 99% of the time!

Please excuse my humongous face (keepin' it real, friends) but yesterday these cuties and I got to be part of a little pay-it-forward chain at Starbuck's.  I pulled up and was informed our order had been paid for so we passed it on.  :)  A FAVORITE moment!

My FAVORITE find this week was this top.  You can see my entire Boho Chic post here.

Someone recommended I watch One Tree Hill on Netflix and I'm on Season 3.  It's getting good.  I remember my college roommate talking about this show while it was on.  I should have been watching with her.  If my thirty-three year old self is enjoying it so much, I'm certain my twenty-year-old self would have loved it!  haha!  A new FAVORITE while folding laundry.  :)  #teenyboppershow  #imafan

The weather was amazing yesterday.  AMAZING!  I watched tennis practice and enjoyed the weather.  Another FAVORITE!

Monster House...have you guys seen this?  I decided to rent with my kiddos last weekend and they were SO disturbed.  #oops  Not a FAVORITE moment!  #momfail  I must say the middle to end got better-the beginning was the scary part.

We have a super low-key weekend.  My major plans are to get all caught up before we head in to Halloween week.  Hope you have a great weekend as well!  XOXO

Going to the Chapel...

Today, we're actually talking WEDDING!

I thought it'd be fun to take a trip down memory lane to share our wedding with you.  One of our neighbors is getting married and we've been chatting all things wedding lately.  She's been undecided about bridesmaid dresses, so she asked what my bridesmaids wore.  I instantly started laughing.  I thought at the time my bridesmaid dresses were so cute!  But the second she asked, I realized either-they weren't too cute OR (this is the one I'm hoping for) they're out of style for today's wedding.  Kind of like when someone asks about what you wore to prom, you wouldn't be caught dead in it now, but it was super cute back then?  That's what I'm hoping!  ha!

I should say in 2016, I'd do it all very differently, but in 2005-it was the perfect day!

Now aren't you guys dying to see the bridesmaid dresses?  :)

A little timeline...
*June 2004-Tab and Erika begin officially dating.
*December 2004-Tab graduates and moves to Dallas, TX.
*February 2005-Tab proposes.
*July 30, 2005-WEDDING DAY
*July 31, 2005-Tab and Erika drove to Dallas to begin married life.
*August 6-Honeymoon-we gave ourselves a buffer to move.

Wedding Date-You'll see in the timeline there wasn't a ton of extra time floating around for me when planning this wedding.  Especially considering I was about three hours away at college.  So we chose our wedding date based on what was available.  July 30th happened to be the ONLY date the reception site was open so we went with it!

Wedding Venue-Tab and I wanted to get married in a church, but the church where my parents lived was an hour away from all reception sites and yada yada.  We decided to get married in a church in the bigger town-closer to reception options.  This worked out great except we have/had zero ties to this church.  Other than-hey look kids, it's the church mom and dad got married in.  If I was getting married today, I'd opt for one great location for both the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Wedding Reception-I'd gone to another reception at this location and liked it.  At the time, there weren't a ton of options.  But...having Tab's people coming in from out of town we didn't need a HUGE area.  So we chose a cute little spot that fit our needs and it worked out great!

Photographer-WHOA!  If I had it to do over, this would be the first guy I scrapped.  haha!  Trust me, you'll agree when you get to the pictures.  This is another, "at the time" things...but we got married right in the middle of more actual photography studios and less photographers without storefronts.  Does that make sense?  I remember heading to this particular photographer's studio with my mom and definitely not falling in love, but not having any other option.  Therefore...the great pictures you're gonna see today.

Caterer-This was hands-down my best wedding decision.  I don't know who found our caterer...mom, aunt, or someone else, but Mrs. Peggy was fabulous!  She did tables and tables of heavy appetizers.  Definitely enough to make a meal, but she had the food tables looking gorgeous!  Bonus-the food was so yummy!

Flowers-Yeah, that was kind of a bit of a fail as well.  haha!  There were some things I really cared about and other things that weren't as important.  The flowers weren't really important to me when I was planning.  However, after the fact I realize I should have had more of an opinion.  I'll never forget someone passing out the bridesmaids' bouquets, we all looked at each other and began laughing.  I'm pretty sure I could have snipped some flowers out of a yard and they might have looked better.  Oh my!  They were BARE!

All that to say, our wedding was SO MUCH FUN!  We wanted everyone to have a good time and I definitely think we accomplished it.  :)  For ladies in the midst of wedding planning, remember the important part is that you, your new hubby, and everyone in attendance has a great time.  It doesn't take a ton of money to make that happen.

I was trying to think of something my mom and I really disagreed on when planning.  She might remember a good story.  I remember thinking without these certain slipcovers I desperately wanted for the reception, it just wasn't going to be nice.  My mom was a big "no" on the slipcovers-isn't it funny what we remember?  But I must tell you, the day of the wedding the slipcovers didn't cross my mind.  ha!

Okay, now on to the pictures... (I just took cell phone pictures of the actual pictures so they're not the best quality-but you get the idea.)

To my family...you're welcome for posting this.  :)

Yes, yes I did have my bridesmaids wear the same dress-just different colors!  I saw this wedding magazine with pictures where the wedding party all had fun bright colors and I loved it.  So that's what we did.  At the time, no one groaned and complained but maybe they were just being nice.  haha!  Or....hopefully, it was cute then but just way more 2005, then 2016?

This is exactly what I remember...lots of people dancing and everyone having a good time.  No one's gonna remember the slipcovers but they will remember the fun had by all.  :)

Happy Day, Friends!
