Friday Favorites

We made it!  This week seemed to drag a little bit for me, so I'm glad to see Friday's smiling face.  :)

I've teamed up with my girls, Andrea and Narci, to share our Friday Favorites.

I have some random favorites for you today...
I saw this graphic on Instagram and could NOT stop laughing!  It was a FAVORITE!  And all the stay-at-home moms said, "AMEN!".  Right?  hahaha!

Bowen is in that awkward stage where he's not taking a nap without a fight, but he usually doesn't fall asleep until 2:00ish.  And we pick the big kids up at 3:00.  Ugh.  So Bowen's been getting quick 45 minute naps that usually look something like what's pictured above.  Having to wake him up is not my FAVORITE.

Oktoberfest on Saturday evening was so much fun!  Festivals are our FAVORITE!

This kid wanted to ride the swings but was way too nervous to do it alone.  Lucky for him, I'm a fan of all carnival rides (until mid-ride I start internally freaking out about the safety).  This set of swings had several double seats.  The double seats were all gone when it was our turn so I rode right behind him.  He did great.  However, when asked he told us that it was TERRIFYING.  :)

Ebby Lee found a friend from school and rode beside her.

Bowen was all smiles for his turn.

I should have taken a picture of this ride, but there was a little car you got inside.  It went into a tunnel and straight up.  Then it came out of the top of the tunnel and went around and around until you got back down.  It was hot and stinky in this little car, but we had fun!

This kid wasn't scared of a thing.  He'd go in, buckle himself, and ride like a champ.

Dinner break!  Worst angle ever but proof we were all there.  :)

These two took a little break in the petting zoo.

We got one quick turn at a carnival game and then we headed out!

I'm off to get ready for our weekend....Friday night lights and a gala are in our future!

Running the Race

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

First of all our FALLING FOR FALL GIVEAWAY winner is Juli McGuire!  Juli, please e-mail at to claim your prize.  Congratulations!

Today, I want to share a little something with you that is completely from my heart.  This past Sunday morning was yucky....rainy, a little windy, just plain yucky.  The kids and I set out to church and just pulling out of our neighborhood realized there was a big race happening in our area.  Orange cones were everywhere.  There were police officers at every possible intersection.  I'm talking even an officer helping people turn in and out of Starbucks.  Because we all need coffee and especially on rainy Sunday mornings at church.  Right?  :)

Anyway, it's rainy and yucky.  I drive-thru to get a coffee and as we're waiting for a break in the cyclists (and a go from the officer), the kiddos and I decide we should start cheering for these people.  What a yucky day to be racing and they should really be so proud.  We roll our windows down a little bit so they can see and hear us.  As they ride by we're screaming, cheering, and acting a fool.  Those people have to be struggling and it's such an accomplishment.

I pull out into my lane.  On our two lane road there is now one entire lane shut down for these bikers.  I'm thinking how awful it must be to be racing in this weather and I'm seriously having a pity party in my head for all these people.  Then we go down a hill and I see a HUGE crowd of family and friends waiting to cheer, congratulate, hoop, and holler for their people.  We just happened to be driving right beside a biker whose wife (or at least that's who I'm guessing she was) had the BIGGEST, BADDEST sign AND she happened to be wearing the BIGGEST smile on her face as she cheered for her man.

Seeing what was waiting for them had to have given them all a little turbo boost.  The crowd sure made me wanna put the pedal to the metal.  :)  I started tearing up just thinking about how much that encouragement had to be helping these people!  (Sidenote-I turned thirty-three and EVERYTHING makes me tear up!)  And it made me think about our life here on earth.  How it's SO important to keep our eyes on the prize.  Or the finish line.  Or in our case, heaven.   You guys stuff here on earth is TOUGH...divorce, death, job loss, and cancer just to name a few.  It's tough and this race we're running is not easy.  I started thinking about how if we have heaven in mind at the end of this "race" then just like those cyclists, we can keep going a little harder.  A little stronger.  Until we make it to the end.

I love how The Message shares these verses, "Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!" Hebrews 12:1-3.

I love how it says, "All these veterans cheering us on".  Just like the crowds we saw on Sunday.  I'm not sure what you're going through right now, but know there are fellow Christians who are going through this thing called life with you cheering you on every step of the way.  We also have amazing examples of faith heroes throughout the Bible who never lost focus of their end game.  I hope you're running your race and living this life with your end game in mind.

Thanks for letting me share a little of my heart.  Please know I'm praying for you today.  If you have a little bit of your heart to share today as well, PLEASE do.  We'd all love to read.  And know I'm cheering you on in this race we call life!  XOXO

What's Up Wednesday

I'm joining MelShay, and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday link-up!

What we're eating this week:
Monday-We had Shay's Mexi Beef over Rice.  It was chilly outside (WAHOO!) and this was the perfect warm meal.
Tuesday-Beer Cheese Joe's are some of our favorites!
Wednesday-Chicken Parm Sloppy Joe's are on the menu tonight!  Apparently, it's a sloppy joe kind of week around here. :)
Thursday-All the leftovers!!  Thursdays are our crazy nights.
Friday-We'll be eating out!

What I'm Reminiscing About:
Another year at Oktoberfest...our town's little festival has really grown!  Now there are rides and TONS of people.  In 2014, there was a petting zoo and a few bounce houses.  And look at how little Bowen was-you can see the back of his head!

What I'm Loving:
I love watching my kids do things they enjoy.  This season Nixon is playing flag football.  He's only had two games so far, but he's really having fun.  #andthatswhatitsallabout

What We've Been Up To:
Oktoberfest 2016!

My mom was in town this weekend so she got to experience Oktoberfest for the first time.  We had so much fun!  These people are all about some carnival rides.  We had sauerkraut (my mom and I LOVE sauerkraut), bumped into lots of friends, and enjoyed ice cream.  It was a great evening!

What I'm Dreading:
Nothing at the moment.

What I'm Working On:
Light fixture hunt!  The front sitting room is almost completely finished.  I just have to find a new light fixture.  Right now there's an ugly white fan.  Ugh!

What I'm Excited About:
This guy will be home this weekend!  You know anytime that happens during football season I'm smiling.  :)

What I'm watching/reading:
I just started this one.  I'll keep you posted.  :)

What I'm Listening To:
The same songs as usual...Kidz Bop, Disney, and some Christian music.

What I'm Wearing:
I'm not really wearing this anywhere YET.  I bought this dress in navy for family pictures and I might dress it up for a wedding.  I'm only sharing because I thought it was so cute!  It has a bell sleeve.  The lace is so pretty and it's the perfect length.  For size reference, I'm wearing a small.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:
We have a fun family night planned and a special date night as well!  WAHOO!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:
All things HALLOWEEN!  We just ordered costumes this week.  My kiddos are so funny.  They always tend to revert to the same things when discussing Halloween costumes....Bowen ALMOST chose a crocodile costume that pretty much looks exactly like the T-Rex pictured above.  Nixon went with a VERY similar thing he's been before.  Ebby Lee stepped out of her box.  :)

Hope you ladies have a great Wednesday!  XOXO

Sideline Style

Happy Day, Ladies!

How'd your team do this weekend?

Last week everyone seemed pumped to have Sideline Style back for the season.  This year I'm just highlighting a couple teams each week and sharing a little collage of goodies that would be perfect for your Game Day.  This week I have three great teams ready to share with you!

I found some super cute tops in red that would be perfect for a game in Louisville!

#2 Plaid Tunic-I used the word, "tunic" because that's what the website said.  I'm not sure this top would cover all my lady parts, but I'd wear it with jeans.

Next, we have MICHIGAN!
These might need to be away game day gear for Michigan fans.  You guys might need warmer tops for a home game!  I wasn't super successful in the thick sweater department today, but they're all super cute.

#5 Peplum Top

The last stop for Game Day is Columbus, Ohio, to see OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY!
Whether rain or shine, Buckeye fans-I have you covered.  :)

#1 High Neck Dress

#2 Kut from the Kloth Jacket

#3 Hunter Rain Boots

#4 Converse

And I shared this pair of heels before, but they're worth sharing again...
They're 35% off right now.  Just random sizes are left, but if you've thought about purchasing a pair of leopard is your time!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, girls!  See you tomorrow for What's Up Wednesday!

Let's Talk...Entertainment!

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  Today, Andrea and I are chit chatting about all things ENTERTAINMENT.

This post couldn't have come at a better time.  First of all, I'm a reader.  I try to fit reading in anytime I'm waiting.  I pack my book for appointments, practices, etc. and if I have any down time I read.  I also read before bed-usually every night.  I have several books to share with you!

This is a very "Girl on the Train" type read.  Mia meets a guy out on the town, decides to go home with him, and then realizes he is actually kidnapping her.  It's a bit of a kidnapping gone wrong suspense-thriller.  If you're a fan of Girl on the Train, Gone Girl, etc...then I'd definitely recommend this one!  It's not creepy, disturbing-which some of them tend to go in this genre.  I give it two thumbs up!

Have you guys read Sally Hepworth's The Secrets of Midwives?  If not, you should!  It was so good!  When I heard she had another book out, I was pumped to read it.  Let me tell didn't disppoint!  In this book, Anna, who is only in her thirties, but whose mind is slowly slipping away.  She moves into an assisted living facility, meets some residents, and we discover love might be the one thing we remembers.  I'm telling's good!

My favorite Elin Hilderbrand book to date!  My sister-in-law kept telling me this was her fave and now I know why.  The ending just kept me guessing.  We meet two families who live on Nantucket.  Both are involved with some rumors and we learn how twisted and messed up rumors can leave you.  A great chick-lit read!

For all you thriller, creepy, mystery loving girls, this one is DISTURBING!  This story is all about a family who had one daughter go missing years ago.  Through an unexpected turn of events, we discover a serial killer and how he is linked to the family.  I don't want to give too much away, in case you want to read.  But please know you have to be okay with some disturbing stuff to read this one.  Grandma, this is NOT for you.  :)

After reading something like Pretty Girls, this was the perfect book to pick up.  Light and easy for the win!  This Hilderbrand novel is set over the weekend of a family wedding.  We learn the ins and outs of one family, where everyone seems to be bringing a little drama.  I liked this one a lot!

Big Brother
Last week Big Brother finally chose a winner!  I always start out so strong with this show in the middle of summer when we have zero commitments, but by the beginning of September I'm ready for it to be over.  It's hard to watch so many episodes during the week.  But...what'd you think of the winner?

Nicole was crowned the winner!  I might have been the only one, but I was a little SHOCKED!  I was expecting Paul to win with the vast majority of votes.  He seemed to be playing the game a lot harder, but what's that saying about smarter not harder?  Maybe that was Nicole's plan all along.  I really was surprised, but she was a good choice.  I like that she never had to get nasty mean (which some of them seem to revert to) in order to win.

I was happy that Victor one America's favorite.  After coming back into the house twice, he totally deserved it!

This is Us
Did anyone else watch this premier last week?  I'd seen previews and was totally getting the Parenthood vibe so I set my DVR.  So far I'm a fan!  That surprise ending completely shocked me, but it was SO good.  Right?  If you were a Parenthood fan, then I'd say watch online and catch up.  This is gonna be a good one.

A few of our Let's Talk posts from the past...

Next month, we'll be sharing our favorite recipes.  You should join us!  XOXO

Friday Favorites

Hey Hey!  It's FRIDAY!  And I for one am super happy to see it.  :)

This has been me all week long...
 Anyone else??

And I haven't found anything that works...
That graph made me LOL!  It's exactly how I'm feeling right now.  I just told Tab yesterday the medicine doesn't even make me want to sleep-it makes me want to just close my eyes.  My eyes hurt.  They feel better if they're closed.  ha!

In the spring, I should just welcome them and throw a party.  :)  #iloveagoodparty

I'm joining my girls, Andrea and Narci, to share some Friday Favorites.

This picture is crazy blurry, but I cropped out every kiddo I didn't have permission to post-which only left two!  Last weekend, Ebby Lee and a friend went to a local high school's drill team clinic.  I dropped them off with big smiles and picked them up with even bigger smiles.  They had so much fun!  Watching their dance performance was a FAVORITE!

This girl was STOKED about her Starbucks cup.  haha!  She is a mess, but her personality is my FAVORITE.  She is ME as a seven-year-old!

When I picked the big kids up from school this week, I told them we were gonna drive through Starbucks.  I usually make an afternoon cup of coffee and this particular day I couldn't get to the coffee pot.  Our garbage disposal was leaking and we had NO clue until our hardwood floor started buckling.  The guy came to take out all the wet pieces of wood and had the kitchen all taped off.

When we got home, it looked like this!  I'm so thankful the floor started buckling when it did or it'd still be leaking.  Our kitchen is a bit of a disaster right now, which isn't a FAVORITE, but no leaky water under the sink sure is!

I teamed up with Fancy Ashley to host a FALL GIVEAWAY!  Giveaways are my FAVORITE!  It's a good one!  You can enter here.

Some of our FAVORITE friends brought home their new baby girl this week.  We were at the airport ready to greet them as soon as they arrived.  This kid was PUMPED about seeing Ashby Shull!  #hisfavorite

The sign crew was representin'.  They looked GREAT!

THEY MADE IT!  WAHOO!  Welcome Home, Madeley Shull!  Oh my goodness!  That baby is precious!

These two melted my heart!  Bowen missed Ashby with his whole heart.  #ithinkthefeelingismutual He loves that girl, so they were pumped about seeing each other.

All the kids were hugging.  Everyone was hugging Shay and gazing sweetly at Madeley when Tab went in for a hug!  haha!  Andrew looks a little nervous in this picture.

Andrew was just kind of standing there taking it all in and didn't see it coming.  Everyone was laughing.  It's probably hard to explain in words, but it was funny!

Reunited and it feels so good!

The girlfriends were in attendance!  I'm so glad to have these ladies in my corner.

We're so incredibly happy for these six!  Having such faithful friends who are the hands and feet of Jesus is such a blessing.  We're so thankful to have this group in our lives.  A FAVORITE moment from the week!

It's college week at the big kids' school and yesterday was "Your Future's So Bright"-wear neon day.  A FAVORITE for Nixon.  His closet consists of pretty much only neon.

On Monday, we're chatting all things ENTERTAINMENT!  Share books, movies, television shows, and more.  You should join us!

Hope you have a GREAT weekend!  XOXO
