Favorite Things-Stocking Stuffers

Happy Monday, Ladies!!  If you're like me, you're recovering from a food coma and straight up just being lazy all weekend.  It was SO nice, but I have to get my hiney in gear this week.

Andrea and I are sharing our FAVORITE stocking stuffers-just in time for Christmas!  I tried to round up a few goodies for each member of the family.

For the Men:

If your husband is like my husband, he is the HARDEST to buy for.  He really doesn't ever "want" anything. It's a great problem to have, I should add. :)  It just makes him hard to buy for.  His favorites are crazy practical gifts-things he's really going to use.

For Women:
Plaid Scarf/Kendra Scott Studs/Selfie Stick/Head Wrap/Pom Beanie

For me, I love anything that shows you really put a little thought into my gift.  When it comes to beanies, I can never find them when I really need one.  Does anyone else have that problem??

For the Boys:
Bean Boozled/E-Writer/Nerf Football/Bounce-Off

Nixon is taking after Tab in the "not asking for much for Christmas" category.  He's crazy competitive and loves any kind of game, so I try to get him a game every year.  That e-writer would keep him busy on long car rides and we lose footballs around here like we lose socks.  :)  He gets a new football every year.

For the Girls:

Shopkins/Pillow Craft/American Girl Movie/Descendants Doll

Ebby Lee is more like me....hahaha!!  Her list is WAY too long!  Basically, if she's seen a commercial once for something, it's probably on her list.  I try to choose only the things I think she'll really play with or enjoy.  She's a HUGE craft fan, loves all things American Girl, and is crazy into those "Shopkins" things this year.

Two things...Please share with us what you're putting in stocking this year.  If you have a great gift idea, trust me...we'd all LOVE to hear about it!  Please share any good ideas!!  And...you should join the link-up!!!  Andrea and I love getting to read all your ideas!  Thanks so much, ladies!!  Have a GREAT Monday!!  XOXO

We have one link-up left for the year....JOIN US!!!

Friday Favorites

I'm teaming up with my girls again today to share our Friday Favorites!!  You should join us!

Whew!!  We are tired in the Slaughter house, but the fun isn't over yet.

This is happening today...
 Bowen Hency is 3!!

God knew exactly what he was doing when he created Bowen.

He began his little life as the easiest baby to enter the Slaughter family....until he got acid reflux at eight weeks.  hahaha!

This kid has the best personality.  He is a little charmer and can have you eating out of the palm of his hand within minutes.

His favorite color is green and he's been asking for a green race car cake for his birthday for weeks!

He can talk Nixon and Ebby Lee into doing ANYTHING for him.  I mean anything.

He started sleeping in Nixon's room with him back in the old house and has taken up residency in his bed in the new house as well.

Every night Bowen asks Nixon if he can sleep in his room and Nixon acts like he's put out, but he secretly LOVES it!

They are his biggest fans!

His favorites are Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, and Team Umizoomi.

He loves all things train or dinosaur.

In the car if I'm trying to keep him awake before nap time, he'll say, "But, Mom, I just want to take a little rest."  :)

His prayer yesterday before our Thanksgiving lunch went like this..."Dear God, Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Boo, and M.  Thank you for clean water.  Thank you for orange juice.  Ashby is a good person.  Amen."  Then he added, "Oops-I forgot T-Nonnie."  hahaha!

He loves Ashby Shull big.  He talks to her on the phone ALL THE TIME. (Pretend phone, I should add.) He's been known to get in trouble at preschool for kissing her during the day!!  I know.  I know.  He's only three.  I'm in trouble.

I love that the very first thing he does every time we come inside is take off his shoes and put them in the closet.

He has a mind of his own and does NOT enjoy being pushed around.

He loves Ebby Lee and Nixon big and they love him even more.

"I thank my God every time I remember you."  Philippians 1:3

Happy Birthday, Bowen Hency!!!

We love you!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope each and every one of you has a day full of thanksgiving surrounded by the ones you love.  Have a GREAT day!!  XOXO

What's Up Wednesday

I'm joining MelShay, and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday link-up!

What we're eating this week:

Wahoo for Thanksgiving week!!

Monday:  We had dinner out with Bowen's bestie and her family.
Tuesday: We visited Tab's family in East Texas for a little early Thanksgiving.
Wednesday:  I usually make a soup every year the night before Thanksgiving.  This year Shay's Chicken Tortilla Soup is what's being served.
Friday:  Is Bowen's birthday!  Our plan is to have a fun lunch out and then eat leftovers at home for dinner.

What I'm Reminiscing About:
Thanksgiving three years ago...our last holiday as a family of four because Bowen arrived four days later.

What I'm Loving:

I'm loving there is NO SCHOOL this week!!  We've stayed up WAY past our bedtime every day and have loved every minute of it.

What We've Been Up To:

A couple weekends ago, we decorated for Christmas!  Since then the bottom half of the tree's lights have stopped working...NNNNNOOOOO!!!  :)

What I'm Dreading:

Just yesterday we began work on this front fireplace.  The guys came to demo it...holy mess!  I can't wait to see how it turns out...we're going for a more Texas-y stone fireplace look.  But...I'm dreading all the mess until it's all complete.

What I'm Working On:

Apparently, we're in full renovation mode over here!!
What's been done this month:  *Wallpaper came down
*Walls got textured and painted
*I bought two chairs for the ends of the dining room table
*Powder Bathroom got wallpapered.
*Front fireplace is beginning demo.

This is what's still on my list to get those three rooms finished...
*Hang canvases in dining room
*Change light fixture and hardware in powder bath.
*Purchase furniture, rug, and a few more goodies for the front room.

Then the Slaughters will probably take a bit of a break.  So our pocketbook can rest.  :)

What I'm Excited About:

EEK!!!  I love all things twinkling and cozy so I'm pumped about getting to enjoy it all with my family.

What I'm watching/reading:

I'm currently reading Girl Meets Change (almost finished) and See Jane Run (just started).  And I'm watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta.  Those girls can get me hooked so fast!

What I'm Listening To:

We're in full-on Christmas music mode at our house!!!

What I'm Wearing:

What I'm Doing This Weekend:

Our town has the cutest little Christmas celebration the weekend following Thanksgiving.  (But it might rain...waaahhh!)  We're excited about going again this year AND BOWEN TURNS THREE!!!  We have some fun things planned for his big day!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:

*Christmas Parade
*Seeing our Missouri Family
*Fun with friends
*Driving around looking at Christmas lights
*All the warm drinks
*Christmas performances
*Holiday Dance Recitals

Give me ALL of it!!  :)

Happy Wednesday, Girls!!

I'm sure everyone this week is thinking about everything you're thankful for.  When you're asked this question...

*Sweet Blog Readers-or maybe this is just me?  :)

These kinds of things always come to mind, right?

I want us to think a little harder today and come up with a few little things we can be thankful for.  You know the things you'd write down if you journaled five things everyday you were thankful for?

The Little Things I'm Thankful For...
*A new neighbor girl we met this weekend came over yesterday afternoon and played basketball outside with Ebby Lee and Nixon for almost two hours-THANKFUL!  I got work done while they had a blast!
*When I come home from a girl's night and Tab has all the kids bathed-THANKFUL!
*When Bowen says, "You" instead of "Your".  As in, "Can I have a drink of you tea?"  He has done this his entire three years of life and I'm-THANKFUL-it reminds me that even though he thinks he's as big as his siblings, he's not.  He's little.

I know you guys deal with some HARD things.  Today, I would love for you to share one little thing you're thankful for.  There might be some of you going through some tough times and reading something that reminds you of some little thing you can be thankful for too could really brighten your day.  Please comment and share with us all one little thing.  :)

A couple more things...
I forgot to choose a winner on Thursday for our boutique giveaway, so I just drew.  The winner is....

Clarissa, please e-mail me at alittlebitofeverything83@yahoo.com and we'll get your goodies to you.

And...today I'm guest posting over at Colors of Life Blog.  You should go check it out.  I'm sharing one of my favorite things and WHY I love it.  :)

Have a GREAT day!

Disciple Now Weekend

On Friday night around 6:30, all seven of our seventh grade girls showed up (plus an amazing leader) for Disciple Now weekend!!

The girls had sessions scheduled throughout the weekend.  During sessions, it was "quiet time" in my bedroom.  My bed looked like this during every quiet time.  :)  We had a movie marathon and lots of kindle time.

We even got ready for CHRISTMAS by watching Elf.  :)

These girls were seriously awesome!  We played games on Friday night and they were so sweet to include my kiddos.  They were playing "Fish Bowl".  They all had to write a person, a place, and a thing on a slip of paper.  Then you put all of them in the bowl and used them in the game.  Bowen's sweet partner let him choose...he picked "Bowen Slaughter", "Kansas City", and "trains".  hahaha!

We just thought we were wrapping up the night with the game.  Around 12:00 I was watching t.v. to make sure all the girls were asleep before I crashed when our leader ran in my room saying something about water!!!  Oh my goodness!  The boys' upstairs toilet had overflowed.  I'm not talking a little overflow either.  I'm talking water was gushing out of the air vents and ceiling fan in the guest bedroom UNDERNEATH the bathroom.  The girls were amazing!!  We all sprung into action.  They grabbed coolers and buckets from the garage to catch water downstairs while Olivia (our sweet leader) and I did our best to soak up all the water with every single towel the Slaughter family owns!

I crawled in bed around 12:30 and caught these three....exhausted after our first D-Now night.  hahaha!

The next day we were up bright and early for breakfast, more sessions, and a FOOD FIGHT!  Every year our Disciple Now has a Food Fight.  It's a quick one hour game where each group tries to get as many canned goods as you can.  Each group is assigned a parking space in the church parking lot.  You have to be creative with your canned goods in order to get the most points.

There are several challenges during the weekend.  The group with the most points wins the Pheadoux Bowl, which is a HUGE bowl of ice cream with every kind of topping imaginable.  And it's the title.  :)

Our group worked hard to make a 3-D chair...use your imagination, ladies.

We got back to our house in time to spot, Mrs. Andrea, our awesome cooking coordinator who provided us an amazing breakfast and the MOST delicious lunch!!  You know you have a gem of a friend when she comes by to drop off lunch, sees dishes in your sink, and WASHES them!!  Seriously....she's the best!

This is a little plug for the plumbing company here in McKinney who came to our rescue bright and early on a Saturday morning.  If you're local and need a plumber, CALL them!

The plumber came and then the water damage company arrived....ugh!  Yes, it was THAT bad!

Ebby Lee and Nixon found a friend, Molly, while we were waiting for the next game's instructions.

They had to draw a cute little picture and come up with a slogan for the weekend in their space.  Our group is funny and chose, "D-Now is With the Flow"...thanks to the girls, I learned this weekend that's another way of saying, "D-Now is On Point!".  Apparently, I'm not down with all the 7th grade lingo these days.  haha!  Did you guys know that phrase?  And...they drew a toilet!!!  Because it was on everyone's minds.  hahaha!

2015 D-Now
If you spot us, let me know...because I can't tell where we are.  :)

We had a scavenger hunt where we drove all over McKinney to measure the most random of things with a banana.

The girls had a pizza dinner and then a big session at church.  We dropped them off and then went to hang out with M.  *At this point, our house was covered with big industrial fans and humidifiers.  EEK!

We waited to pick our girls up.  It was 8:15 p.m. but I would have bet anything it was closer to 11:00.

My kiddos had the best time!

When it's D-Now weekend and you have a bunch of middle school girls at your house, you get to eat chips, queso, and chocolate cake at 10:30 p.m.  :)

And then you smile like this.  hahahaha!!

It seriously was a fabulous weekend!!  I'm EXHAUSTED and may have taken a two-hour nap yesterday. Today I'm hoping all the carpet and carpet pads will be dry, so my house can completely be put back together.  If your church has something similar, I'd highly suggest you and your family participating!!  Our church looks for drivers (to help with the activities), cooking coordinators, and host homes so you can try whatever works for you.  Despite the flood in our home, we had a GREAT time!

We got to enjoy an evening out last night with these two...some of our oldest McKinney friends!  Great food with great friends is always a good time!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!!
