First Day of School 2018

This year I was full of mixed emotions on the first day of school.  In one hand, my kiddos were starting to get annoyed with each other when one simply breathed...not even in their face, just breathed.  Anyone else's kids reached that point?  But on the flip side, as crazy as they can be at times, I love having them with me.  We love going on adventures, swimming as long as possible, and curling up at night to watch a good movie.

Plus, Baby Bowen, who was just born a few weeks ago went to kindergarten!  WAAAH!!

Can you tell I was all over the place last Monday?  ha!
Nixon started third grade.

Ebby Lee went to fourth grade.

And Baby Bowen headed to kindergarten.

This girl hung with me...but she wanted in on the photo op.

Next year, we need to head outside a little earlier...our front door picture got all messed up by the sun!  I'd say right about this time they were half excited and half nervous.

We took Bowen to class first.  He gave us all a big hug.

Smiled for one last picture and then walked himself to class.

Me?  I dried my eyes and headed to breakfast with some of my favorite mamas STAT!

It was nothing a little cheesy omelet couldn't fix.  :)

And I got this picture from a friend right at lunch time.  To see that big ole smile, made my day!

Britty took a big nap {in my bed, perks to being the only kid at home} and then she came in my office to help me work.  And by that I mean she colored while I worked.  ;)

It's a first day of school tradition to decorate the front door.  This started when Ebby Lee went to kindergarten and I asked you guys for fun traditions to start.  Now, my kiddos all know it's gonna happen AND they look forward to it.

I found these sets of garland on Amazon and it was SO much easier than crepe paper!  I used less than half so next door my front door situation is ready to go as well.

We arrived at school a bit early because I was so anxious to hear ALL about their days.

Please note...THREE SMILING FACES!

Everyone had GREAT days!

Ebby Lee-Absolutely LOVED her teachers.  She thought they had the coziest rooms.  She loved getting to know some new friends better and is looking forward to a great year.

Nixon-Thought his teacher rocked!  He was excited about getting to know the kids in his class as well and he's ready to tackle the year.

Bowen-Had the BEST day in kindergarten!  His teacher is amazing, he has several friends in his class, and he got to hang with Ashby at recess.  Win-win-win!

Another first day tradition...
Silly String and Water Balloons!

Our neighbors came over to join the fun.

Poor Ebby Lee...when you have two brothers you're going to get soaked!

It was all fun and games until we had to clean up the front yard.

I seriously thought...maybe next year I should implement a first day of school movie after that mess!  ha!

We had a quick snack before Tab and the boys headed out to see the Cowboys at Training Camp.
Doesn't Bowen look so embarrassed in that picture?  I see a little red-you guys know he gets that from me!

They watched practice,

 wore THE coolest glasses,

and had the BEST time before heading home.

Whew!  What a FIRST DAY!  We're so excited about this school year.  I'm telling you...we have fabulous teachers this year and are looking forward to rocking fourth grade, third grade, and kindergarten.

XO
