Friday Favorites

Week Two of school is in the books!  And we have a three day weekend so we're all pumped!  Hope you and your crew has had a good week too!  I'm teaming up with Andrea and Narci to bring you Friday Favorites!  We'd love for you to join us!

The last two weeks have been some of my FAVORITES with this girl.  She's missed the big kids like crazy BUT she's gotten extra perks like napping in mom's bed {which is a big deal in her two-year-old world}.

I'm not calling this a favorite just yet, but it has potential.  :)  You guys know I'm a fan of anything truffle related so when I saw this at my local grocery store, I HAD to give it a try.  I'm giving it a 6/10...I think I went wrong by adding a little extra to the sauce...ground beef, a little more seasoning, garlic, etc. and all my "dashes" disguised the truffle flavor!  I'm gonna try it again and not do a THING to this jar!

*Has anyone tried this sauce?*

On Saturday evening, we watched our FAVORITE college football official on t.v.

This isn't a favorite...but right after I tucked all four kiddos into bed on Saturday night, this happened.  I had taken a bath and locked the door so no kids would surprise me mid-bath.  But apparently, I forgot to unlock it and I locked myself out of my bedroom.  My phone had 1% battery life left and I called my parents for help!  Whew!  They talked me through it and it ended well.  But...for a second I was panicked!

I saw this on a friend's Facebook this week and loved it.  Sometimes as a mom I get overwhelmed by everything I should be praying about and for when it comes to my children.  I thought this was helpful and wanted to pass it on.

I enjoyed a Girl's Night with some of my FAVORITE ladies earlier this week.  Every year we have a Scarf Exchange Party...think "white elephant" style...so we all choose a number at random.  Number one opens a gift and then number two can either "steal" hers or open a new gift.  We play until everyone has had a turn and we give number one-one last chance to steal.  This year we tweaked it a bit and it became a "Fall Accessory Exchange".  I've gotta say-I think I loved this even more!  We went home with scarves, fall earrings, fall nail color, and more.  A super fun night with these ladies!

Do you remember this group?  :)

I just saw this tee at KenLeeCait Boutique and ordered it!
Isn't it cute??!!

I think that's all for today.  I'm gonna take Monday off to spend with my family, but I'll be back here on Tuesday!  Hope to see you then.

XO

Outfits of the Week

It's been a super long time since I've shared a fashion post and that's mostly because all summer I was living in swim suits and cover-ups.  Now that school is back in session and I see grown-ups daily I'm trying to up my game just a bit.  To be honest though, when you start out wearing only cover-ups...the only place you can go is up.  Right?

We had a little get together for our class at church at a local Mexican restaurant and I wore this plaid top {sold out-but the same brand has lots of fall plaid options}, white jeans, sandals, and earrings.

This is a look at real-life.  I don't think I was headed to the gym...it was a get-stuff-done-around-the-house-today.  My top {sold out-but did you know you can shop the Under Armour outlet online?  Great for kiddos' clothes and workout clothes for mom too!}, shorts {sold out too but lots of similar options}, and hat {available in black} tried to make me look presentable.  :)

That sweet girl HAS the "cheese" face down!  ha!
My tee, shorts {mine are the last year's version but super similar}, and sandals made it an errand-running kind of day.

Look at that...I got "really" ready last week.  #shocker
Top {sold out but from this website}, jeans {mine are sold out from last year but these look like the new version}, and wedges.

Do I look ready for a birthday celebration?
My top is the kind of material that gets crazy wrinkles {DON'T RECOMMEND IT!}, the shorts are a good mini-introduction to the paper-bag style {sold out but some options}, and my necklace is making a statement {sold out but similar option}.

Remember that meme that says something about anytime I wear a dress with pockets I let EVERYONE know it has pockets?  That's so me!
Dress is from Landry Kate Boutique, a super cute store in downtown McKinney-you should check it out if you're local.  Earrings are from another local downtown McKinney store, Me and Mrs. Jones Boutique.  And those sandals got a lot of action over the last week.

This was me post workout last week.  Let's all be thankful I put the phone in front of my face.  ha!
The workout top and shorts are both a few years old from Under ArmourThese are my favorite workout socks.

My top is sold out, but it's from this website {I ordered early summer}, shorts are the ones I've talked about all summer long {sold out-but I've talked about these a ton too}, and these earrings.

A bit blurry but it was a quick pic before drop off at school.  This top was recommended by my blogger friend, Kristin, and after I got mine in the mail I ordered more.  I'd suggest sizing down if you want it to have a tighter fit or size up if you'd prefer it loose.  My shorts are an Old Navy find last year.  {Current shorts at Old Navy are CUTE...lots of options.}

Dress is available in wine...perfect fall color!

Top is sold out but this is a cute similar optionwhite jeans, and slides {similar}.

Whew!  That was a big round-up!  Hope you guys got a little inspiration or found something you like.  Thanks for stopping by today, friends!

Monday-We're having Loaded Chili from the Eats cookbook, I keep talking about.
Tuesday-We have ALL THE THINGS this evening so it's gonna be a quick night of leftovers, sandwiches, etc.
Wednesday-Green Chile Chicken Baked Tacos-if it were up to me, we'd eat tacos every night.
Thursday-BBQ Joes-all of my people love this meal.
Friday-Kitchen Closed. :)

What I'm Reminiscing About:

I've been reminiscing about our great first week at school.  So, so thankful for three smiling faces at pickup!  Well, four smiling faces actually-because Britt is so excited to see them!  :)

What I'm Loving:

I'm loving all the alone time with this girl.  I think she's loving it too.

What We've Been Up To:

What I'm Dreading:
I've read the book, Decluttering at the Speed of Life, and now I'm dreading putting all those new skills to work.  ha!

What I'm Working On:

I've been hard at work sending cute clients like the ones above to Disney World.  If you'd like some help on an upcoming trip to Disney World, cruises all over the world, or Mexico, please shoot us an e-mail at mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com.

What I'm Excited About:

I have a fun trip coming up next month and I'm REALLY excited about it!

What I'm watching/reading:

I shared my summer reads a few weeks ago.  I read some GOOD books this summer!  Be sure to check it out for recommendations!

And Big Brother fans unite!  I'm watching every episode, which is way harder now that school has started!  I was a little shocked by Sunday night's episode.  I thought Angela and Tyler were gonna play nice with Fessy and Haleigh at least for a while?

What I'm Listening To:

After that night at the rodeo, it's been country music all the time!  haha!
#iblameitallonmyroots

What I'm Wearing:

Look how precious that sweet girl is!

I'm either wearing something like the outfit above OR I look like I rolled out of bed.  It's still hot in here in Texas and it's a 50/50 shot lately.

My top is sold out, but it's from this website {I ordered early summer}, shorts are the ones I've talked about all summer long {sold out-but I've talked about these a ton too}, and these earrings.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:

We'll be watching FOOTBALL!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:

Fall Fun...and hopefully some fall weather to accompany that!

What's My Favorite Back-to-School Tradition:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  XO

North Texas Fair and Rodeo 2018

Have you guys heard of the North Texas Fair and Rodeo that takes place in Denton every year?  No worries if you haven't.  I hadn't either.  Until last week.

Tab switched jobs earlier in the year and went to work for a client, Darr Equipment, here in Dallas.  Darr had a vendor booth in the fair all week, so we decided to throw caution to the wind and by that I mean-forget about early bedtimes during the first week of school and head over to the fair on Wednesday night.

My friend, Brooke, and her family all went too.  {Her hubby works there as well.}  We made it a big ole party!  The place wasn't busy at all!  At times it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.

Our first stop was the Darr booth, of course.  ;)

It looked pretty good!

Then it was time for THE RIDES!  I'm telling you...Wednesday must be the night to go.  There were no waits for any ride.

A group pic with all the "big kids".

And what happened two seconds after the picture.
#reallife

Britt was channeling her country-girl self with that farm dress.

It didn't take them long to get in the spirit.  #alltherides

I was shocked Britt wanted to ride, but I buckled her in, stepped back, and she LOVED IT!  See her friend, Willow, cheesing back there?

The guys were hollering at us to come watch...the boys all decided to ride the ride behind them.  I think Nix felt peer pressured with friends there...on his own he NEVER would have ridden it, but they survived!

A fun house decorated The Greatest Showman-style, yes-please!

It's no secret we are fans of a fair AND we love a rodeo.  My kind of night!

Love this mama friend of mine!

Bowen's request...BUMPER CARS!

This girl thinks she's big...we rode the carousel and she really preferred me not touch her.  She was out of luck though because these horses didn't have straps so I was holding on!

We grabbed snow cones and then made our way over to the rodeo!

We watched for a bit and then it was time for the calf scramble...that time in the rodeo when they tie a ribbon to a calf's tail, let the calf loose, and the first kiddo to grab the ribbon wins.

And they were off...Aiden {Brooke's oldest kiddo} won!  In case you're wondering, the prize was a North Texas Fair and Rodeo hat.  #winner

Before we'd completely lost our minds, we decided we better head back to McKinney and get all our people to bed.

We took one last group picture.

A kid group pic :)

And took a spin on the mechanical bull.

THEN we called it a night.  :)

This is something we'll add to our fall {even though it's August and still crazy hot outside-school has started so it's fall in my book} calendar.

Brooke made a cute vlog all about our night.  You can see it on her YouTube channel here.

If you're in the mood for a funnel cake, a spin on the Tilt-a-Whirl, or some bull riding next August, you should check out this spot.  Slaughters gave it SIX thumbs up!  #andthatssayingsomething
