Friday Favorites

Happy, Happy Friday, Friends!

I'm joining my girls, Narci and Andrea, to bring you some FRIDAY FAVORITES!  I hope you join us.  :)

I have a random mix for you today so sit back and relax...

Book Reviews:

In a span of a week, I had two different people mention this book to me.  I especially love Max Lucado's books around Christmastime so I was eager to read this one.  If you are someone who worries {even just a bit}, I'd highly recommend you reading this!

I LOVED this one by Sally Hepworth!  It's suspenseful, is full of different plot twists, and the kind of book you don't want to put down until you're finished reading.  This book centers around new mom, Essie, and the neighbors on her street.  Essie is harboring some big secrets, but when a new neighbor moves into town and seems to become rather obsessed with Essie-well, you need to read the rest to discover what it's all about.  I'm telling you-I was a HUGE fan!

You guys know I'm a fan of those psycho thrillers and this one fit the bill.  A girlfriend passed this one on to me months ago and I've been waiting to read it.  In this one, one wife in the family has to decide if she should risk everything for the life she loves or come clean with what she's discovered.  The family dynamic in this one is CRAZY!  If you're a fan of those thrillers, give this one a chance.

Another in the psycho thriller line-up, this book was good!  This one surrounds the disappearance of Sutton {the wife in the book} and throughout the story, I wasn't sure if she ran away, was murdered, or possibly committed suicide.  I was on the edge of my seat though!  The entire time!

I've been reading my way through the Baxter Family Series by Karen Kingsbury.  This is book two and was SO GOOD!  After those books above, this is just what I needed.  These are Christian fiction books and the constant theme throughout them all is Jesus.

Vacation Recap:
I apologize, friends.  I CANNOT STOP TALKING ABOUT THE FUN WE HAD ON OUR DISNEY LAND AND SEA VACATION.  Shay and I have been recapping like crazy ladies.  :) You can see all the recaps {so far-just one more on next week}...

Disney World Footwear:
I took two pairs of shoes to Disney World and they both worked so well I had to share!  I wore this New Balance pair the first day {with socks} and then I wore this pair of Nikes {no socks} for the second two days.  A girlfriend recommended those Nikes just a few days before I left.  She had the white and they were SO cute, but I was afraid white at Disney might get crazy dirty so I opted for grey.  I didn't know if one pair would rub blisters or just be uncomfortable...that's why I packed two!  They were both so comfy and I ended the day with great feeling feet!  ;)  Two new FAVORITES for my feet!

Disney World Shorts:
On Disney World Day Three, I wore THESE shorts.  I'd recommend your normal size or sizing up if you're in between.  There must have been a picture on Shay's blog because I have zero pics of myself where the shorts can be seen.  But several of you asked me about them.  I'm not sure about you but I'm in that weird-shorts are too short or shorts are too long stage of life.  One trick I've figured out is I buy my denim shorts in a size that allows me to pull them down low on my hips.  It gives me a little more leg coverage.  ;)  THESE shorts fit the bill AND they're a GREAT price!

Swimsuits:

WHERE'S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO BUY SWIMSUITS?

I bought a couple new ones for our trip, but I think I need a few more before summer.  We swim almost daily and last year I didn't really buy any new ones.  I bought a few pieces and added them to the mix and match pile.  This year I'm on the hunt!  I'm hoping someone has a secret swimwear place to recommend I know nothing about.  :)

Riced Cauliflower:
I know I'm arriving late to this party, but I've FINALLY made it and have been obsessed with riced cauliflower lately!  What's your favorite way to eat this?  I could pretty much add anything and be a fan.  Earlier this week, I had one of these "chicken" patties {they're vegetarian-I bake them in the oven and they're super easy.} piled on some riced cauliflower with-WAIT for it-Frank's Buffalo Sauce.  Yes, I know that sounds like a weird concoction, but it was so good.  We also had scallops piled atop some riced cauliflower this week for dinner one night.  I'm telling you-my new FAVORITE!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you have the BEST weekend!
XO

Great heads up on the denim shorts - great price point. Matt thanks you for that ;) Ohhh, riced cauliflower is the bomb! I'll add peas and small diced bell peppers to mine for a little medley. Then I love to use it to make mexican rice to go with taco nights (it's so yummy for taco salads too) Have you ever done cauliflower mashed "potatoes"? It's SO good, too! {Gosh, sorry for all the commentary - major insomnia and plenty of caffeine under my belt} Happy Friday, friend!

I love replacing regular rice with cauliflower rice in Mexican rice . I microwave the cauliflower rice for about 5 minutes before adding it to the skillet with diced tomatoes, onions, seasonings, etc., so that it will be done and not too strong. You can also add some regular cooked rice to it if straight cauliflower is too much. So good and very low carb.

I just finished reading The Silent Wife last night! It was a really good book. I've always wanted to try a land and sea vacation but we usually get so bogged down in everything we want to do AT disney that we give up on the sea part and just enjoy a full week in the parks. Looks like you all had lots of fun!

Hi, have you tried Cabana Life for swimsuits? I just discovered them. They are very cute and give you coverage without looking dowdy!

The one piece of advice I have with Cabana Life is to size up! I am a size 6 and I ended up taking a large in the bottom.

I included Cabana Life in my Friday Favorites last month. Here is the link: http://goodbetterbestfood.blogspot.com/2018/02/friday-favorites-coffee-donuts-i-am.html

I've had cauliflower rice in my freezer for probably 3 months now. I just haven't pulled the trigger on it! I may have to text you some questions later on to see what I should do with it first. And I just ordered some swimsuits from The Swimspot and saw some cute ones on Hapari.
Venus Swimswear also has cute ones! That Inspired Chick

I bought a bag of riced cauliflower and another bag of frozen teriyaki chicken and veggies. I cooked both, mixed the two together, and added a little more teriyaki sauce and it was so good! My family didn't even know they were eating cauliflower until I told him. Super easy meal for a busy week night.

Athleta has awesome swim suits that look cute, stay put, and have good coverage. They are made really well and you can mix and match every piece.

I devoured the Baxter Family Series years ago and LOVED them. Rarely did I get through the book without shedding a tear. Seeing your review makes me want to read them again.

I love riced cauliflower. I make a Whole30 Butter Chicken in my slow cooker using this recipe. https://www.peanutbutterrunner.com/slow-cooker-butter-chicken-paleo-whole30/
Just make sure the coconut milk doesn’t have any sugar in it or it will taste like bad barbecue......not that I’ve done that or anything.

Www.herroom.com and www.barenecessities.com are great sites to get mix and match bathing suits.

I enjoy your blog!

Hi!! I’ve found a couple of Calia by Carrie Underwood suits at Dick’s Sporting Goods. I tend to go towards a more athletic two piece because they are more comfortable for me while chasing small kids! I found a super cute navy/white striped suit with cute top back details by her! I’ve also gotten a couple at Athleta too—I’m definitely more sporty in suits!
